Upgrade from DT990 Pro?

It is a sad day. The right driver in my brand new DT990 Pros has a nasty rattle and is weaker then the left. I have already returned for a refund. This experience has just drawn me away from getting another pair of DT990's I want to bump up the price to the $200 and get a different pair of headphones preferably closed or just with a little more bass. I really want them to be comfortable too. Like the 990's were.

Open ear is okay as long as you can tell there is bass. Punchy and Tight is nice too. This whole experience has just made me sick really. $150 for trash so I mean.

This headphone is more bass impact heavy then the DT990 right. Like overall is an upgrade too because it is $50 more.

If there is another tier better I can do $250. I just didn't know if there was a tier better in the $250 range.

The DT990 is a bass heavy headphone, the Q701 has a more lighter bass.

So its a possibility because of the effed up driver the representation was misleading? If you think the dt990 is the best overall headphone for under $250 I will just reorder another pair. I figured since I returned them and I have more money then before I would throw out another $100.

I had both the Q701 and the DT-990 Pro. If you want just a little more bass than the DT-990, forget the Q701 immediately. It's a good headphone, but it definitely has less impact in the bass than the DT-990. If you want to stretch your budget a bit, a used Hifiman HE-400 would be great. Very similar presentation to the DT-990, but just better all around in the technicalities. Hifiman HE-300 might also be worth considering, though I haven't heard it myself.

Ultrasones are supposed to have pretty good bass. They have open and closed models.
