Beats Pro Detox Deal?

I've found some Beats Pro Detox editions for $150. I realize Beats get bashed a lot but in this $150 price range are they a good headphone? Uses would be gaming, music, and the occasional movie. Any better paired with Schiit Modi/Magni combo? Thanks in advance.

DT 770 250 ohm

I've been heavily considering the K550s, along with the DT770s. Which of those two would be best?

So those Beats aren't worth getting even for $150?

No I don't think the beats are worth $150, especially when you have a decent amp/dac to be paired with. I can't say the K550s are better than the DT770s it depends on what you're looking for in a sound signature.  They are almost literally exact opposites.

Between the 550s and 770s, which would be best mainly for gaming & music? I've not had any previous experience with higher end headphones as right now I'm using a gaming headset and have been looking for a proper pair of headphones for a while. I need them to be closed so noise doesn't leak out and disturb others but I'd still like a nice soundstage for surround sound while gaming.. I've heard both the 770 and 550 have good soundstages.

Edit: I listen mostly to 80s-90s rock and metal & some of the newer punk rock like Green Day. Also into Linkin Park.

I would say go for the K550s then.  They will probably make rock sound a lot better than the bass heavy and recessed mids 770s.  The K550s are pretty big so you might have a heard time getting a good seal and blocking outside noise if you have a smaller head.

Thanks for your help!! I don't think the sealing would be an issue. I'll be ordering very soon! Thanks again!

K550 is a better option for the sound signature you are seeking for.
