the only annoying this is - new refurbs have a laser etching saying refurb at the bottom.

I believe Istor was knocking up the prices on his refurbs to sell different colours (everyone was buying black only) so he alternates between changing the price on the black and blue models (we're talking about the Zip).

Sandisk, you release the 16GB version in Aus, all H-fi'ers here will love you, one less good piece of kit requiring import.

Hope we'll see it at JB by the end of the year. AWESOMENESS

So what's the word on rockbox for this player? Saw it at work and the all black one is downright sexy. Would need rockbox before it replaces my zip though... I read something about the chip being different so it may not support rockbox ? That would be disappointing :<

No hardware in common with any other rockbox device, weird MIPS processor, so probably no port for a very long time.

Well that stinks, mine arrives today. How bad could the stock firmware be ^_^

As long as the SQ is no worse than the Zip/+ I'm ok.

Maybe I'll pick up a Clip+ at some point, the Zip looks too plasticky/cheap. + is something classic for sure.

Theres no common hardware between the sport and the zip, so I wouldn't assume the sound quality is similar (although maybe it is).

Hopefully the stock fw is improved. The stock firmware on the zip made me want to hang myself :P

Wow haha, well I've barely used the Sport yet, going to try and get my music on there tonight or something, the UI seemed fine to me from my 20 seconds of browsing settings lol

Noticed one bug

When you click on 'Artists'

you come to a menu that starts with 'shuffle' followed by all the albums in order

when you click on one album, again a 'shuffle' and that particular album displays

again you click the same album, a 2nd shuffle and same album (as last step) appears and it is from here the player starts to play your album.

Kind of annoying when you want to skip a track and get to another one quickly.

Woah really liking this thing so far, UI could definitely use polish but it gets the job done and navigation is fine. Build quality=me likely, very nice to hold and operate. Sound quality to me sounds really good, weird thing is on the lowest setting it feels too loud even when I switch it in the settings from High to Normal (under Volume). I guess I have really ******* sensitive ears since this happens on my phone too, the lowest volume always seems too loud, unless I'm out and about with ambient noise. (Am I ****ed up or something O.o)

Have not put battery to the test, but I bet it'll do fine, I have a mix of FLAC/AAC/MP3.

I formatted a 64 GB Sandisk card to FAT32 and it recognizes all my stuff no problems.

So far I've only listened to it with my FXD 80s

The screen is laughable (hello 2001) but what did you expect lol, wish they went with an OLED screen but I guess this was probably cheaper for them haha
