Need help with headphone recommendations - Gaming and neutral music

Hey guys, I'm new here and I just have a couple questions.

I've been using a pair of Razer Megalodons for about 3 years now, got them as a gift for Christmas and since then they've been doing me a really solid job but I'm looking to upgrade.

I mainly use them for gaming (Battlefield) and music (all genres, although I prefer a slight emphasis on base if not neutral sound) and I have about $300 to spend on gear.

However I don't have a sound card in my PC right now so I'm assuming that would be on the list of things to grab.

Oh and lastly, my friend recently got a new amp for his theater-room and gave me his old one, a Yamaha RX-2600 and if I could use that with my PC somehow I'd love to, better than keeping it in storage.

Thanks!

Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro 250-Ohm headphones

AKG K612 Pro 120-Ohm headphones

Both headphones would work plugged directly into the Yamaha.

HDMI from your computer's graphics card to the Yamaha would be the best connection.

S/PDIF (optical or coaxial) connection from the motherboard to the Yamaha would be a second best connection.

For the S/PDIF connection, using DDL (Dolby Digital live) would help with headphone surround sound.

Or an Asus Xonar DX or D1 sound card, used $60, would provide DDL.

Damn, I never even thought about using the HDMI from my graphics card. I just connected it all up then and it worked flawlessly, had a pair of $50 headphones coming close to my Megalodons.

Thanks so much for your help! Would've never thought of that. Looking at grabbing one of those two sets of headphones right now :)
