I'm listening to the Bose QC 20 while typing this post. I'm down 320 dollars and not completely satisfied with my choice in earbuds. Before I complain to the internet, I'll first say that the noise canceling feature is amazing. Arguably unmatched in the industry. When charged up and turned on, they truly remind us that we are living in the future. Also Bose are extremely comfortable sitting in the ear for hours and hours. The problem started for me when I plugged them into my device. (HTC One) The audio quality wasn't better than their lower price point earbuds and just didn't live up to my expectations. Certainly good, better than most. but not good enough for the price. I'm really only paying for the noise canceling feature. furthermore, when turned off, the audio quality drops to low. extremely muffled. witch means that ill be at the mercy of the battery life. I'm a power user meaning I use for plenty of hours in the day and battery life could be an issue. And to be honest, noise canceling isn't even an important feature to me. The inline controls are a very strong selling point to me. I can pause music, answer calls and call last person with the inline control. I fear that no other high-end earbud will offer this inline feature.
I'm looking for a replacement. my budget is around 300. Inline controls for Android is a great feature but I'm more concerned with the sound quality. Heavy metal is full of complex notes. And I need something to match. noise cancellation is low on my priority list. Its also going to be hard to match Bose comfort with the fin design. My search of online reviews has left me with mixed emotions. not sure what my next move should be. Any input from someone on a forum would be greatly appreciated.
