I'd just ship it declared as "used, portable mp3 player" and value it under $100.  It will fly right through.  They want to stick it to you - you stick

it right back to them!  I'm all for honesty where honesty is due, but to the "organized crime lords" that rape us over on duties, I say f_ck 'em!

Sorry to say,

that customs won't let that happen so easily - at least not in good old germany.

In Germany you had to pay  €699,-- for  the AK100 and € 1.299,--  for the AK120. (In fact You cannot even  buy a AK100 MKII or a AK01 from a german dealer as of now)

If You order it from overseas the invoice has to be attached outside the package, so customs can check. If there is no invoice it will go to a special customs unit where You can "pick it up" - of course only after You paid VAT on top of it and when the total value is more than approx. 150 € they have You open the package and then You also have to pay additional import tax.

If they catch You at giving them the wrong value on purpose  You are further due for a heavy fine.

All in all - it doesn't really pay off so easily.

The effort on the 2,5 female jack will create false contacts within few weeks...

There are a few cable makers including myself and Drew at Moon that use a 4 pin mini XLR standard, ours is the Green Line cable, if you own one of these types of convertible cables all you need do is pick up the end terminating adapter piece. So we will add a mating miniXLR to 4 pole 2.5mm plug then all you need to do is add this to your existing cable if you already own one of these convertible type cables. I am not worried about the size of a 2.5mm mini plug breaking.

The AK240 straight out of the unit sounded awesome, I just like using the amp because it still gives a little more punch and impact. Most times I do use a amp with my AK player sometimes I dont, like when size and weight is a issue while traveling. The AK240 headphone stage sounded very good.

Thanks Ken, people here like to judge the product too quickly. ALO will sell the AK240 right?

But I will never judge anyone buying it and might even get one on a crazy day. Do not feel personally offended when someone attacks AK because you love the AK120...

Please keep you advice on form and threats of mod intervention to yourself, I was just stating a personal opinion...self apointed moderators annoy me to no end.

And if all you have to bring to the debate is that value is in the eye of the beholder well we are not going far with that.

Finally, if you hate to fuel something, do not twist people's words and patronize them. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I will say no more on the matter of price or AK pricing policy, because I do not wish for this to get out of hand either.

+1

Come on guys, my personal rig is a AK100 with a white super cotton 8 mini to mini and a The International, this is what I am use to hearing. When I AB something I want to hear the International any my own mini to mini. When I used this in combo with the AK240 that is what sounded the best and what I took a photo of. The AK240s headphone stage is no slouch and I would not think 2x about using it straight out of the device. I am posting photos of it because I like the device, I like iRiver stuff, I am here (primarily not to meet iRiver), the 240 is very new and I thought since there are currently few photos of it posted and impressions I would contribute to the content. I dont need advertising or I would be posting a LOT more on head-fi, I typically dont post a lot on head-fi.

Thank you

Ken

It better have a "no slouch" headphone out, we are talking about 2.4k here. You can get pretty much all other TOTL daps that are available for the moment in the market.

It's the best headphone amp in a player I have ever heard. I did try the Roxanne with it and combo was next level.

I think it should have a good dac/headphone amp on the size alone..people are paying top wack..so the best parts should be at the top of the AK240s list!

yes but that does not mean I am lying. Yes I have tried them, and yes I did not have one there to AB so this is of course my personal opinion. I would like to hear what Vinnies impression of it are at some point.

You have to try it yourself to make the determination.

Sorry, Ken,

I really didn't mean to sound completely serious. When I 'said' that remark, it was while I had a wry smile. It was only a playful prod, not a serious accusation, but I sometimes forget that text-based communication does not reveal the subtleties of facial expression, body language or tone of voice, so I do apologise that what I said came across badly. No offence intended, and neither did I mean to actually make you feel awkward.

Mython,

No no, no apology is needed! I totally understand. Its hard for me to post as a MFG, I am a long time head-fi sponsor but its still very hard for me to post. I think anyone who knows me knows me to be a straight shooter and honest but via email and posting its hard to know what people are up to, I understand this. People are naturally suspicious of vendors and I totally understand. ;-)

Thanks for the reply

Ken
