+1 to this.

As a fairly new Ak120 user myself, I am very interested to know how big an improvement in sound quality does the AK240 have? Makes me seriously think of sending in my AK120 to RWA for the B-modding. But then I will have to void the 1 year warranty by AK. Anyone knows how can I enjoy balanced out audio if I am using a 1plus2 with the silver/gold cable? How do people usually do this setup? RWAK120-B out to balanced-in amp to 1plus2? Or I have to get an aftermarket cable with balanced termination for my 1plus2?

I am genuinely curious ... Is that because you expect a large improvement in sound quality over your current player(s) or is it more based on it's other specifications ?

RWAK120-B TRRS ==> Balance amp (eg RSA RS-71B or ALO balance amp) ==> balance cable to your 1plus2 ( you can re-terminate yourself if you capable).

To listen Balanced w/ 1p2 you will need to re-terminate your cable to a TRRS or Kubiconn 4 pole plug depending on the amp. No big deal other than soldering, etc. Obviously you will need a Balanced Amp, too.

Having monitor this AK240 for some time, seems this unit will be surely a pass due to overpricing, and more importantly, totally non-portable design. How on world can a person put a brick + a cube like that in his pocket and go out to street? The design is even worse than those Chinese "bricks" :o

In theory, you do not need an external amp for portable use especially if you will balance your c/iem. unless, you need to rock K1000 on the streets. My only complaint before was lack of line out. now seems they have implemented it in a fashion that I do not need to forego the primary function of phone out

Lets demo before we conclude the "overprice" bit. We never know. I agree they do have the history to treat us like chumps. 3rd stroke before its out, i guess

Looks like they have gone for the military stealth metal form look with those sloping angles to it...
