They said the card slot issue is due to limitations of Android.

I uploaded some pics in my post in the AK100 thread for those who are interested.

Of course it has a new UI, why wouldn't it?    Let's go beta testing again.

Maybe I was not precise enough - they said the new Ak100 II and AK120 II will have the same UI as the 240 - and the prototypes  that they had present also looked identical in this respect.

I personally am not so happy about this - especially since they have been dramatically increasing the prices. The new Ak120 will cost 1.800 Euro.

Ok that's it for now - I don't want to hijack the 240 thread.

When you open the sub folders you see the songs at top and artists with albums inside or just albums.
You can see on the card what I mean.

My Card:

Are you using the USB cord that came with the AK?

Since you have been so helpful-and I really appreciate the "screen shot"- thought I'd give an update. After deleting the folder that would not transfer into, I tried a different name and then it took the transfer! I don't know why that would make a difference, or state that my 240 is "locked". In the future if I have more problems I will see if a rename of a folder fixes the issue and report to our iMac folks. My internal storage folder has files established somewhat like you have on your sd card. Perhaps I should minimize the number of folders...?
It is interesting how many responded asking about the USB cord that came with the AK. The transfer was so glitchy that was my first thought and I ordered a dock station, which did' to change a thing, tho it is handy. I am convinced there are Android transfer software issues. Because of the success of the 240, I'm thinking that will be addressed in a firmware update. Mac users who want to use the 240 are too abundant.
Again, thanks for all the help; I always look for your superior responses.

I've reset, eliminated suspicious file,s tried all sorts of different techniques of dragging and dropping etc. I think your assessment is accurate: "buggy". What a shame; kinda' spoils the experience. Not completely as the sound is so wonderful.

I have been trying some alternatives to Android File Transfer (AFT) in an effort to find a more reliable file transfer experience on a Mac.  To date, the best I have found is SyncMate for Mac by Eltima Software.  It is not free, you will need the "expert" edition for AK240 functionality.  Here's a link to SyncMate:

http://www.sync-mac.com/

I did find a discount code (20% discount):

SM-FB-20

Make sure that AFT is not running when you set up SyncMate and create a MTP connection (and mount the connection) for the AK240.  I haven't tried the sync feature yet, but file transfer seems to work nicely.  I hope this helps.

Yea! An alternative transfer program! Thank you so much....I lost several hours yesterday trying to transfer music and unable to do so. Don't know if you saw my previous post, but what finally worked was changing the name of the destination folder . ( can you believe it wouldn't take "Beatles", but "The Beatles" was acceptable?)
I'll be happy to pay for the expert addition and thank you for the kindness of a discount code. Couple of questions: doesn't the Android automatically load. How will I stop that? And what is the sync feature v. File transfer? Thanks for the suggestion...can't wait to try.

The best way to stop AFT from loading is to simply delete the application.  Go to the applications folder and drag the ATF icon to the trash.  The sync feature automates the file transfer process, but I have been unable to get it to work.  as a heads up, when you "mount" the AK240 for the first time, SyncMate may ask to install some additional modules, go ahead and let it.

Great. But one more thought. I just looked at SyncMate and it seems it works within iTunes. Is that exclusive, because I have been downloading DSD and Flac -which are stored outside of iTunes. And thanks again!

I got a question. Is there a significant sound quality difference between AK100 2nd Gen and AK240? AK100 2nd gen has UI and sound chip of AK240. I wonder if any of you heard new AK100 and can compare its sound to that of AK240.

I'm more interested in buying a new version of AK100. But yeah, sound quality matters...

I don't have an AK240 yet (I'm currently using an AK120) but there are a couple of questions I have. If I connect an AK240 to a Chord Hugo via optical cable, will it play DSD? Or will it convert to PCM?

Secondly, I have read a lot of people referring to DoP here. I think I understand the basic idea of it but how do I convert my DSD files (purchased from Acoustic Sounds) to DoP? Or is there a setting that I need to enable in the AK240?

Not exclusive to iTunes (I don't use iTunes).  You will be using the "mounting feature" then drag and drop in a finder window.

I have only briefly had the chance to listen to both units and this in a public and noisy surrounding.

What I can say is that AK100 II and AK120 II both sounded very good to me form what I could hear. The sales rep guys claim that the difference is clearly audible. The difference between both in tems of soundproducing setup still is that the 100 has only 1 DAC and the 120 has 2, so the 120 keeps the signals separated all the way.  Both have now only 1 SDXC card slot but more storage onboard. Both are using the same Android based UI that AK developed for the 240. Both are also considerably larger than the "old" models. They both now have approx. the size of a IPhone 5 - you need to decide for yourself if you like this.

It seemed to me that the amp section has become stronger as they had several grown up Over ears ( HD800, HE 500, Momentum; Can#t remember all the phones) attached which they could drive to quite acceptable levels. (although the loudness was set almost to max)

Anyway - they declared that there will be a major update for both the "old" AK100 and AK120. That's the good thing - On the other hand I fear that this might be the last update also as they changed the UI for all their models. I must say that this would be such bad business conduct that I hope they will not / do not follow this path.
