I guess the difference will be similar to the difference on unmodified units. But it really depends from the earphones, some show real improvements, other ones less so.

Here is the reply from Vinnie:

Hi Yan,

For the TH900, the 3.5mm SE output is fine.

The 2.5mm has a little bit more power, but you do not need it.  It is not better SQ - just more power.

Best regards,
Vinnie

So I think i will stick with the 3.5mm jack. :D

Whew! That was a close call! ;-). Seriously, thank you for the post/update from Vinnie. Now I don't have to worry any more with that aspect of my 240-TH900.
BTW do you use the PRO eq with the TH900?

You are welcome. :)   But the modification helps current control for low impedance headphones, so the 3.5mm SE would still have a great improvement over the stock one IMO.

Nah I prefer pure and original music, so i never turn EQ on... haha

Yes, they come with two sets of front/back screen protectors, one set already pre-installed. One less thing you have to worry about at the cost of $2500.

Hi,

Australia... nice, I would have offered to send you one if you were in Europe. Nevertheless, you'll be pleased to know A&K give you 2 sets of protectors in the box. One set pre-applied (front and rear) and one spare set in the box.  Please also be aware there is another film covering and protecting the pre-applied protectors (which has a small tab on) which can be removed immediately.

Hope this helps any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Steph

Thanks for all the information provided!!!

This is the best news i ever heard again from AK. :D

Also another update from Vinnie:

Hi Yan,

You are correct.  The power supply rails for the headphone amplifier stage are more stable, and have more instantaneous output current. The RWAK240
is excellent with low impedance headphones and IEMS.  I tested it down to 8 ohm - it works fine!  And the class A biasing also yields improvements to the
sound as mentioned on our website.

I warranty the modification work for as long as you own it.

Best regards,
Vinnie

For those who using low impedance IEM and headphones folk~~ :)

FLASH POLL!!!

I own an RWAK100 with Shure SE535's.

On Sunday night after a few drinks I was thinking about my upcoming vacation (starts Saturday!) and thinking how great it would be to try out something new.   I never had the courage to go for the AK120 but with liquid courage I pulled the trigger on the AK240 (woke up in a cold sweat the next morning!).

Now, thinking I'm already in kinda deep, I'm considering the Shure SE846 or the Sennheiser IE800's.  I listen to everything from classic rock, old and new jazz, classical, prog rock etc.

If I'm going to get new IEM I gotta act quick.

What mates with the AK240 better?  I don't plan to use an amp.

Thanks!

Congrats my friend.. You made a great choice.

If you go for a new iem, make sure you take advantage of the balanced out. I'm using it with IE-800, single out. Sounds fantastic, but you can't upgrade the cable.

Personally I've been enjoying the SE846's more than the IE800's with my AK240.  And a plus is you can easily upgrade the cables - I just ordered balanced cables from Ted's Headphone Lounge, so hopefully I'll soon be taking advantage of the balanced output.
