Sorry I should have been more clear, the AK240 has a powerful amp. It's stronger than the stock HM901, bout equal to the balanced card on low gain but the HM901 has the high gain option which gives it the edge. It's stronger than the stock AK120 and I remember someone saying it's much stronger than the ZX1 but I can't find the specs on the ZX1. It's also 1 Vrms stronger than the Calyx M if the Calyx M's specs are correct. For a portable DAP of its size it's certainly not weak.

For owners of the 240, is there a way to sort it by album artist instead of artist? I have 5 or so albums with multiple artist and with my current DAP everything sorts by artist so it leaves the albums fragmented in artist view. Also what's the max cover art size it will display?

Looked up the specs.

Standard amp HM901 has a .96v low gain and 2.12v high gain. Balanced amp has 2.32v low gain, 3.91v high gain.

AK240 unbalanced 2.1v, balanced 2.3v.

Would there be a problem getting a standard wireless drive to transmit HQ audio files over wireless to the device?

Whats the highest resolution wireless can send over the air?

That is one hell of a pipe dream.

I tried unbalanced LCD-3 and LCD-XC a moment ago and they were playing fine at 50 volume level.

There seems to be some AK haters. Is the old Ford v Chevy type thing? Is it because people had issues with the AK120? Or is it solely the ridiculous price tag?

I don't have anything or any history so I haven't formed a bias.

It's also really hard to form solid opinions since the M isn't released yet. If I read and compare spec, watch the videos and read between the lines on this forum (oh, and don't look at the $$$). I'd say some of the AK issues have been resolved, SQ seems good (maybe in line with 901, high praise?) and the UI is quite good,

This is an exciting time with many options.

Price tag is what I gather, just think what you can do with 2.4k!

I am sure some will throw functionality in the mix because at that price what's not to expect.

It's certainly a marvel of programming according to what I saw, response time is the toughest thing to optimize.
I think thanks partially to Apple, it's now granted on those touch based devices, therefore expecting the same.
The price is still a sticker shock.

The UI show good response time, but I find it not to the level of the Calyx !

--> Am I the only one not convinced by the AK240's UI & play list management, and finding that it show a lot of wasted Screen real estate ?

For the Calyx M, reports seem to indicate a slower response time. I notice that too, there seems to be some gaps in the displayed components on the screen. If they can't use the full screen real estate because of some physical limitations then that could be a problem, if it's only software, it's fixable.
