But.... what PORTABLE source will you can propose for the HUGO ?  ? ??  There are NO micro battery portable audio server available today ! :-(

A "pico-battery opperated-Aurender" :D

I used it with my Mac Pro laptop on the way back from CES. It is pretty much a portable music server to me:) I plan to use it over the wknd with the AK120 via Toslink connection. Really the AK100 would be fine since bypassing the AK dac in this case. However the AK120 has more storage.

Agree for the AK120, but I really don't like it's SMALL screen, "old" interface, and BAD "play list support :-(

The new Calyx might be the ticket then.

Will be ideal, with a nice Screen and UI indeed, but RUINED by a limited capacity of 128 Gb non expandable !

May be one day a 512 Gb Calyx-2  or Sony ZX-2 ?  :-)

Nice looking Calyx. First time heard about this dap.

I may get one just for that sexy look regardless of the sound.

You are right.  So let's say " Ruined by an internal capacity of ONLY 64Gb +  ONLY 1 slot"

Why is music capacity so paramount for you guys. The sound is the only paramount in this. The chips are cheap and allow you to quickly change your genre or music flies.

As I understand your point , it is most likely something that the companies do consider after the sound is made the best it could and after the GUI. Now I am not saying your wrong but look at it for what it is. It is a player first .
I think it's best to make a list of ten items that are important to you in a DAP . Then check the points for each player I think you will find other points that are important more than capacity.

Hi Al, I don't change cards so I never looked for the answer to the question, Does a library scan have to be done each time a card is inserted?

Hmm. One box solution with the 240 which is already garnering similar sonic accolades to the Hugo from those who have heard both or the Hugo plus the cost of a transport and cables, your probably looking at north of 3K by the time your done, it's going to have to sound a whole lots better than the 240 to warrant the not inconsiderable extra cost once you figure in the cost of high quality cables to connect it to the transport, very much looking forward to hearing both, hopefully for my wallet their will not be a big enough difference over my 240 connected to my TU-05! smily_headphones1.gif

Hi Ian
AK240 will be listed at around 20,000hkd and Hugo will be around 16,000hkd The 4k(515usd) difference should be okay to buy a digital cable or even an ipad or other mid-tier DAP.
AK240 does win all in terms of portability though.only remaining thing is how it sounds, that goes to both devices..

I only do a library scan when I have loaded new music. The 120 being so easy to add or remove albums I have found the on board memory plus two 32G cards more than I have ever needed in memory. I did think once about getting 2 64G cards but I have never needed that much. If I had got the Titan I probably would never have added cards!

I agree with Al, cards are cheap as long as the device has swappable storage... It shouldnt really be too much of a problem
