Question regarding playing HD music.

Thread Starter

I have downloaded a few tunes from HDTracks thinking I could load them onto my Cowon D2+ and enjoy them.  Noop!  So my question is, What limits a player's ability to play 24-bit/192kHz files?  Is it the DAC?  If it is the DAC, can I hook the D2+ up to a more capable DAC and listen to these files?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The is no way for D2+ to play 24/192 as the hardware just doesn't support it. It also doesn't have any digital-out ability or USB-OTG function so a DAC is a no-go as well.

One way is to use a software downsampler to downsample 24/192 to 16/48 before transferring the files to D2+ for playback, but then there isn't much point of getting HD files in the first place.
