It depends on the quality of your receiver and what do you want to play. If the receiver's DAC is better, then DX90 has coaxial S/PDIF. If the receiver's DAC is not so good, then use line out.

In any case, turn the EQ in DX90 off ("On" should be displayed in the left bottom corner of EQ screen). When using line out, set the volume on DX90 to the max.

Being bit perfect, DX90 plays back DTS Audio CD rips via S/PDIF just fine, and you'll have true 5.1 out of your receiver! Avoid to listen it via analog DX90 outputs though!

Again, being bit perfect, DX90 also is able to stream DSD in DoP, having especially prepared files, e.g. in FLAC format. So if your receiver handles DSD in DoP via S/PDIF, then use S/PDIF.

Using my DX90 coaxial S/PDIF to V800DAC sound completely Awesome!!!!!!

How much you bought your bad batch/ good fake 128 Sandisk card?

Okay this is super embarrassing but I'm going to take back what I said about the bass of DX90. Turns out I've been plugging in to Line Out for the past few days! The change is like day and night after switching to Phone Out. Happy user now!

I'm surprised you've been listening off the LO for days and did not give up nor sold DX90 already

LO's can sound very good if they are wired to the right software/hardware attenuators. For instance, the Mezzo doesn't use an amp, and neither does its base AK100. The Mezzo wires straight to the software attenuator and it sounds very very good. But then, I've heard LO's that sound horrible. The original signal basically comes from the same place, it's just one is wired for voltage, and one for current. There are other differences. But some are pretty much the same thing. The AP100 sounds good through either one.

I was trying to make myself like the sound from LO but it really wasn't working for tracks with strong bass. It made me regret getting the DX90 over the X5 and I had thoughts selling it to get the X5 instead. Luckily I chance upon a earlier thread and realize what I was doing wrong all this time.

Honestly I never use Rockbox before, is the Rockbox is more convenient than the stock UI?

Convenience can be subjective. I'd say you have more control. The stock FW is definitely a lot simpler.

The nagging gapless and fade out/in issues in the stock FW are non-existent in Rockbox.

Some news regarding the signed Windows USB DAC driver: I've asked iBasso and they answered that they are currently fixing some bugs and it should be released within the next two months.
Having worked with Software development, this translates to maybe September or October.. We'll see.:)

Hopefully that's two months in our time.
Last time they told us a week so we waited a week, and then another week, and then another...

So far I am loving the DX90, however I have come across an issue. When I play an album, after a song is finished, the dx90 will randomly skip to a different song (not the next song in the album) despite my play mode setting being on "order." Anyone else come across this issue?

I have a Marantz SR7005 receiver & Adcom GFA-555ii 2-channel amp running Energy Veritas towers and SVS PB-2000 subwoofer. I guess i will run via Coaxial, thanks for the info!
