I think the original samsung battery has two version, with and without nfc

May have been a running change with later 'genuine' batteries all being better. I doubt there's much difference in construction based on where assembled unless Samsung oversight is lacking which I find unlikely .

There's also Korean version S3 and normal S3 version of battery, so does it's mean made in Korea battery is compatible with the DX90, a little bit of confuse now

I'm afraid that you missed both of the OEM types I have:smile::

1) "Samsung made in Japan, assembled in China" - my best sounding Samsung battery, PN EB-L1G6LLU

2) "Samsung Made in China, Assembled in Korea" - less good-sounding, to my ears, compared to the previous one. And it has a different PN EB-L1H2LLK, though it has the same electrical specs (3.8v, 2100 mAh), is identical in form.

Both, BTW, have NCF capabilities...

I know, and, in general, I mainly agree with you… however, in this particular case, my comment was made because the 2 types of Samsung battery that I do have, actually show different PN (see my post above ^^^)… since Jamato8's new type (made in Korea, assembled in China) has the same PN as my better battery (Japan/China), I inferred that it might imply that it is actually the same battery, and that maybe Samsung simply shifted production patterns recently.

If you do a search on ebay for EB-L1G6LLU, now you essentially get almost only the same kind of battery as Jamato8 found, with very few Japan/China types (and some, even fewer, Korea/Korea or China/China types) - I know because this morning I did just that, and I bought a further 2 Korea/China batteries, like Jamato8's:biggrin:… and when this topic was first approached in the DX50 thread, my 2 types of battery (which I bought around that time) were the ONLY ones that people found actually made by Samsung… Situation looks to be different now;), but I think that if people look for EB-L1G6LLU and check pics of the item for manufacture/assembly country (and get either Japan/China or Korea/China), they should be getting the "better" (to someone's ears, at least) kind of battery.

What I got was the Korean battery with only Korea being the site of manufacture. I bought 2 more, so I have 5. The reason, if I find something I like, I don't like to find out later that I can't acquire it if needed and they have a good shelf life. Also, I like the DX90 enough that I am fairly sure I will be using it for some time. ?? Well I think I will. lol

The ebay link you quoted before shows a pic of  a cell "Made in Korea, Assembled in China"… You ordered that, but the one that you got is different? But still part number EB-L1G6LLU, and still very good-sounding, right?

For mA I would have to use a resistor and measure drop in voltage and do some calculations. For the top off voltage, it should be about the same. I think it is the electronics used and possible the chemical composition that makes the difference. I do know I was surprised by the change. For a little less than 10 dollars and free shipping, this is a better upgrade than any 500 dollar cables or even using DSD (which gets sampled to 24/88.2 but still sounds good, IMO).

The ebay link I provided shows that but the actual battery comes with being made in Korea, with no assembled in China.

Unless somebody can measure the differences people say they are hearing, there's a reasonable chance that this is nothing

more than expectation bias. I'm not saying there isn't a difference - there may well be. But until somebody measures them and provides evidence, there is a possibility that it's all in your head. It'd be nice if somebody could address the 500-pound elephant smirking in the corner...

I think we bought the same battery. :D Mine only says "Made in Korea" (It does not say "assembled" or "cells made," etc, etc.) Only "Made in Korea" and the date of manufacter is 04/14, so it was made just two months ago.

And Yes you were right jamato. It does sound significantly better than the Anker 2200 battery. I'm glad I trusted you and others on this thread and took a $23 leap of faith. Plus me being in Korea right now for business was just too tempting. Official Samsung store right in front of where I work.
