Thanks, guys! I'll give that a try.

Is there any advantage to using any of the 3 settings?

Just wanted to mention that I received my player yesterday. I have tracked it since it appeared on DHL webapge.

Everything went smoothly - even though information from iBasso is minimal.

Having said that, when I ordered my DX50 I had some troubles with the player and were in contact with the people from iBasso and found them nothing but very helpful and service minded. With the experience I had fromt eh DX50 buy - I had no doubts about ordering from iBasso yet again.

They said it's because of all the fake stuff coming out of China I hope my player isn't a fake & gers destroyed how would they know if it is or not?

You order direct from iBasso? All the UK orders reported here have had DHL and no problems with Customs. Why are ParcelForce involved?

I've re-formatted my card ex-FAT and placed just one album on. It still comes up with the SCAN/BROWSE screen every time I turn on (as long as card inserted). Can someone please confirm that it is the Ready screen that should come on after an initial one-off browse?

It should come up ready to play on power on if a card is already inserted.

Is your card by any chance write protected so the player cant write the directory that contains the result of the scan ?

It's not gonna work. The way they get it so thin is by making it much bigger, longer than the DX90, and it also requires the back of the device to be totally flat and flush with the top of the stock battery.

For easy to drive low impedance iems or any iems for that matter, the low gain will always be the best setting for a few good reason.

1. The volume control is implemented at the digital/DAC level. That means if you select a higher gain than what is needed you will have to turn down the volume level lower as well. This will affect the DX90's effective dynamic range. From my estimate, DX90 should be set at least at 190 for best dynamic range (higher is of course better). This is also the reason why some people use an external amp, so the can crank up the volume to max and just attenuate the volume on the external amp.

2. If you have set the DX90 at high gain, you have a narrow range to play with on volume control, accidentally holding the up button, can suddenly increases the volume very dangerous level instantly. You run the risk of damaging your hearing.

3. low gain means low noise flow. iems are sensitive and is easier to discern noise on an iem than full-size headphones. It is most likely a hint of noise is what people have reported to be discern-able difference when using an iem on a high gain. Which can be pleasing on some occasion.

Just my 3 cents worth ...

I ordered directly from ibasso off their website there were no options for delivery or postage as far as I remember just a drop down with one option & a price for the total cost on my PayPal invoice I think but not positive shopping was $22
Cheers Jules

Too bad it does not work. Indeed it seemed too good from the very beginning. Thanks for the feedback.

Probably because he requested ibasso ship via EMS.

So today I got annoyed with the fingerprints and smudges with the original screen protector that iBasso supplied,

so I tried to cut my own screen protector from Rhinoshield (ordered a samsung note 3 one, seems to be the biggest size)

I didnt do a particular good job but at çutting it (used a surgical knife)

but at least now I get no fingerprints and smudges on the screen!

The funny thing I reckon is that the DX90 probably wont survive an impact like this one in the video but the shield will

Always best to try and keep all cursors as close to 0 as possible and adjust up or down from there. Many makers drop the gain in EQ so that a range can be increase relative to flat without overloading another stage. If you start at +6db and adjust something up from there, you're defeating the purpose. Unless you can't achieve a satisfactory volume at high gain and full volume raising all the cursors is a no no. It can also be less linear, sometimes significantly so. 0db on iBasso's scale will be most linear,. The same buffers and gain adjustments are there regardless of where the cursors are set. It won't be them dropping all ranges individually for you to put back. They have reduced the overall gain when activating the EQ circuit so that there's enough headroom to use it.

I was thinking of doing the same, I have an exacto knife kit. If you use a metal ruler and a square piece of wood to cut the piece, I believe you'll have a better chance at cutting it more precisely. I was thinking of getting an iPad size Zagg shield. A bit pricey but enough material to cut ample pieces for many players. smily_headphones1.gif

Drop tests tell you one thing; don't drop it! biggrin.gif
