  dx90 clipping?

[i'm not even sure if what i'm experiencing is properly labelled "clipping"]

i've used my dx90 for only a handful of hours. i'm not sure if that's relevent to my question:

i've experienced clipping in ONE place in ONE classical piece [so far] - it's [supposed to be] a relatively sudden transition to a different theme at a louder volume in [i think it's the 2nd movement] schubert's death and the maiden quartet.  i replayed it to see if it recurred, and indeed it did.  this is playing a flac5 rip of a cd, and i know the rip is good because i've played it over my speaker system without a problem.  the sound just disappears for a moment at the transition, then reappears.

i'm using low gain, volume about 200-210, directly out to k812's.

i haven't tried changing the gain setting.  would that matter with my low impedance, high sensitivity phones?
any thoughts? or is this just something i have to live with?

It maybe just a software bug. Try a factory reset and check if you hear the same problem.

Now, for a strange one. This has happened only twice (in about 300 hours of use/burn in) and clears with a switch off and on again. The vertical line of dots appear along the right hand side of the screen (can't get pic to post upright).
It's very(very) hot in the UK at the moment - I wonder if that's caused it?

Anyone else had this, very occasional, problem?
Cause? Solution?

This has happened to mine about two-three times - if I remember it was when I was listening with the usb cable attached to computer for power and I disconnected it while playing with screen off and then pressed upper left button to turn on the screen - turning screen on and off did not straighten it out - so I turned the DAP on and off and it went away....

Is it at the junction between 2 tracks ?
And if so do you have gapless enabled ?

There is also a known intermittent bug where the music suddenly dusappears and then fades back in about a second later. Does it happen every time you play that music ?

Having source problems (I know, 1st world problems, yada yada yada)...My X3 and DX90 both seem to have given up the ghost at the same time. IBasso was woking this morning, I tried using coax out to try out a DA converter, hasn't turned on since (Guess I'll post on the DX50 thread next). Haven't used the X3 since the iBasso came, tried turning it on/charghing it, not going on either (at least when I connect it to computer it gets recognized as a drive, may be able to coax something out of it...XB90 doesn't show as drive, card doesn't show either, doesn't charge, doesn't turn on. Oh well, back to the iPod Touch and Samsung YP-whatever for portable sources...Have to check out where I got XB90 from, many recent purchases, but I suspect I'm going to be stuck for it...

Hold down the power button on the DX90 until it comes on - might be 30 seconds to a minute.... mine has appeared dead before, I just hold down the power button and it always comes back....

OK, give it a try right now...I did hold it down, for a bit, but I'll hold longer. fingers crossed.

Eureeka!!!!!! It worked!!! Had to hold for what seemed like quite a while (probably wasn't really that long), came to life, had picked up charge in the interim as well. Good to know, thanks!

Coming from Apple devices, you'd think this kind of thing would irk me - but I've become much more tolerant in my old age - the sound is worth the occasional hiccup

did the factory reset which removed the drop out [which was within a single track].  however, i've now noticed that only on certain tracks i lose the last second or so of the track ending, and the first second or so of the track beginning.  i do NOT have gapless enabled.   ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON THIS ONE?  [i noticed this AFTER doing a factory reset, so that won't be the answer.]

that worked to remove the dropped-out segment.  thanks.

Enable gapless.  Even though it was suppose to be resolved with FW 2.0.5, I noticed that with gapless turned off, the cut is worst than with gapless on.

I tried to reinstall the FW using the RKBatchTool once, and it appeared to have totally eliminate the cut at the end of the track. But as the DB grows, the symptoms seems to have re-appeared.

I rarely get the cut at the beginning of the track which will be more annoying than the cut at the end. The cut at the beginning happens when DX90 plays the first track coming off from a sleep state or just after a power up.

Hey,

I just got my DX90, pretty excited after reading all the info on this thread.

I tried searching the thread but haven't found this specific problem:

I'm coming from an iPod 6 Gen, so up until now I was using iTunes. When I plug my DX90 in by USB to my PC, I can see the drive fine, and I dragged and dropped some songs into the window on the internal drive and they played on the DX90 no problem. I tried inserting a brand new sandisk 64 gb microsd card (I got it from ebay) and reconnected through USB but for some reason I can't open the drive on the PC. Is there something I am missing here? It isn't possible to fill up the microsd through the DX90 by drag and drop?

Note that when I insert the microsd a scan option does show up.

Edit: I used the SD adapter that came with the microsd and inserted it into the slot on my laptop. I see a blank window pop up, and when I check properties, I can see that is is in FAT32 and that it has 64 gigs available on it. So i dragged some music onto there and inserted it into my DX90. I scanned the card and the music showed up but each song I play stops at 10 seconds in. I can skip to the next track on the microsd but it too stops at around 10 seconds. When I go back to playing music on the internal hard drive everything is fine.

Try a factory reset. Described on the first page and real easy to do.

i'll give it a try.

the first second cut, though, is not when coming off sleep or after power up.  it is coupled with the last track having a second cut off.  i.e. track A will end a second too soon, and then immediately - with no pause at all-  track B will start a bit into the cut, skipping the first second or so.

Sounds like the SD card is fake. Try to reformat it.
