Oh wait smily_headphones1.gif....you have never listened to Tera before..have you?
Music, you seem to be hanging around the wrong threads. Let me help you out here :-

I know it's kinda quiet and possibly a lonely there but you'll,definitely be more "on topic" there.

Guilty as charged. :-)

I was interested but the dude doubled the price. Pure extortion but if people will pay why not I guess.

Bugs on the DX50 is mostly myth. But I am waiting on the gapless fix. Cheers!

At it's current state DX50 over Tera player anytime. I don't hang around cool people.

Every positive aspect of the DX90 is "limited" in some way yet covers a dap segment yet to be filled.

Dual Sabre ESS9018 mk2, but dual dac with less cores than single ESS9018 in DX100

DSD support, but with 8GB internal + 64GB card + OTG (limited to niche users imo)

in iBasso's line up it would be,

1. DX100

2. DX90

3. DX50

and if we stack the rest based on SQ alone ( + / -  thereabouts), based on my own experience with those available and impressions gathered, it would look likely to be,

1. HM901

2. AK120 / DX100 / ZX1 / Tera  <- crowded

3. X5 / DX90                           <- yet to be filled

4. DX50 / AK100

5. X3

ibasso knows exactly where they want the DX90 to be at.

I'm pretty sure they know where they're going, too.

I'm still dreaming of a DX200... UI of the DX50, DAC implementation from the DX100 and the PB2 as the amp section... :D

yup, thats something worthy to pay big bucks for

Or maybe a DX75: DX100 DAC implementation with DX50 UI, coax out and analog line out only for use strictly as a source. With no amp section, I guess they should be able to fit dual full SD slots in there.

Ah well, a man can dream...

As for me happy to stay with Tera player.smily_headphones1.gif
Do not laugh too hard though because no one ne forgot about X5 or ZX1. Now let me please beg of you, on my knees, chanting your holy name, stop bringing up the Tera all the time in all threads. I love the Tera but this obsession of yours is VERY annoying and could lead people to hate it and bash it. So please please please keep on subject. I will send you a monthly allowance if you want.

or a DX-HC100, internals from a DX-100 in a Helena Christensen shaped case...

we're already losing sleep as it is ... :D

iBasso sure are getting the hang of getting people to rush to pull out their wallets :P Really great value if the OP specs are accurate, I for sure will buy one even though I have a Sony ZX1 incoming right now!

At least make sure it's the 1995 edition of her then.

And she might be pretty, but hardly pocket-friendly. Now let's get this thread back on track before all the "she could get in my pants" jokes come rolling.

I'm going to send Ibasso an email and ask them to tell me as soon as I can preorder the DX90.

I like that version, I still want the DX90 double dacs maybe call it DX99 biggrin.gif

DX50 UI
Double ES9018K2M
Coax Out
LO
Double microSD
Split on the USB between DAC (prefer) or OTG

Anyway you look at it, they seem to have a good foundation for future builds.

Right, could be a fantastic dac, tube, transformer, cap, resistor, . . . implement wrong and it doesn't matter. The Sylvania 1929 to 1932 mesh plate balloon tube is beautiful and I have NOS. Design right and I will put it up against anything for a preamp, wrong and you may as well use a Russian 6SN7 copy.

This and the these new Sabres lend themselves very well to portable use now that they draw less current. Lots of onboard goodies to help them operate most effectively. They're not my absolute favorite DAC chip but probably will turn out to be for this format because of this, That said, we have no idea how the DX90 will sound or function yet. It still uses a Rockchip SOC that they likely don't have full coding control over and Ibasso DAPs have all used output coupling caps so far. The 9018K2M also isn't the same as using a standard 9018 DAC. They could have given it a completely different title but are trading on their HiEnd product. It's not just a low current version and has a different topology.  That said, It's still a hyperstream DAC with all the important inboard goodies and should be plenty good enough for this use. In fact, it's probably a better choice than it's big brother due to current draw. Using 2 does allow each DAC chip access to more current from their tiny tracks.

Some of these, while cautionary, aren't necessarily bad things but it's also not a slam dunk success just because they're using a great DAC chip (that we haven't actually heard) either.

We'll be listening to individual tracks that come to mind while he's skipping through entire libraries trying to find his. God forbid you should invade 'his' thread with something actually useful. A post like the one I made above would be fully unacceptable. I suspect the reaction here will be more tempered.

The Tera does point to the (lack) of importance of parts used. It's using an industrial, not made for

audio, 16 bit DAC and by all reports sounds VG with it's relatively poor frequency response and

high output impedance. The Aniversary 3 is another. It doesn't even have a separate DAC chip

and is often preferred to things that do. I think lay people put to much importance on the bits.

So what do we have here exactly? I read USB Audio Out feature somewhere in the thread I think. Also any sign of higher capacity options?

I am still not convince but still looks interested, I like this project more than DX50 honestly. Never been a Wolfson WM8740 fan anyway.

Any chance of getting a spec list or it is still too early?
