It does ? My bad. But I am not a fan fan of the DX50 look. A bit better than X5 still.

It will be out sooner than that. The size of the DX50, same case, two Sabre dacs and so on, that is a lot to pack into the case. I look forward to it. The CPU will be much faster so the UI will be super fast.

That may be true, but, apparently, pretty much everything doesn't sound better than the X5, and that's what really matters in a DAP!

I think X5 and DX90 are both exciting mid-fi DAPs with potential near-TOTL  SQ.

As excited as I am for the release of the DX90, I can't say I'm not anticipating the X5 either.  I'm leaning towards the DX90, but I still can't wait to hear everyone's reviews of the two, back to back.  Following the X5 thread, I know that overall the reviews are good, but I want to hear what everyone's comparisons.  From sound quality, ergonomics, user complaints, all that good stuff.

I had sent an email to iBasso a couple days ago asking for a release date, and this morning I got a reply saying early March, and that they would email me once it's released.

Hmmm I wonder how this dap will sound.

I guess i'm in, March good under $500 good.

Heheh - there's a few hundred thousand people (including me) thinking exactly the same as you!

Nice to know that iBasso are feeling they are still on-target with the release date.  That's one of the joys of adapting an existing platform (DX50) - they have a lot of the hard work already done, so only need to develop the modifications rather than an entire DAP.

The funny thing is, I suspect a lot of people may (eventually) buy both an X5 and a DX90. If they're both good DAPs, then they both deserve to be successful, so I hope both Fiio and iBasso enjoy success from their hard work developing these 2 DAPs.

Have the x5 right now via the tour and I'm really digging the sound and UI. Dual microsd slots is a plus.

But I like how the dx50/90 looks

I would have liked a double micro sd port ( or a full size sd port ) and more built in flash ( flash is so cheap nowadays )

Beg to defer, micro SD's are fine. Especially as I have several that I switch out on my current players.  No need to invest in full SD cards.

MicroSDs can be used in a fullsizeSD slot, though.

...Just sayin'
