Just a brief listen with 2.1. (slow roll off, gapless on.  Low gain, IE800, Japan battery)  2.1 sounds more detailed and "live".  I find it a more involving sound.  I'm going by a subjective impression of whether the sound involves on first listen, and whether it makes me want to listen more.  And whether it makes songs more interesting, that I had not found that interesting before.  And 2.1 seems like a good positive change in that direction.

A factory reset seems to clear up a lot. On the previous FW my screen seemed too touchy but then I did a factory reset and it was great. On the fade in and fade out, I have not had that. I did have it on the DX50 or 90 some time back but not with the latest FW or the previous. And, I always do a factory reset.

From the day I bought it, mine has always booted up to the "Scan SD Card" / "Browse Files" menu.  There was never anything to indicate that was a problem, so I just assumed it was normal.  Then again, I've never upgraded from firmware 2.0.0.

Are we sure the elimination of that screen on startup didn't begin with one of the later firmware versions?

I just did a factory reset.  No change.

Mine does this with every firmware, and I've performed a factory reset after each firmware upgrade.

Yes, I have always done a factory reset. I also tried different cards as well as checked my files and it continues to ask for a rescan everytime it is turned on. I assumed it was normal as well

:DWhat a very straight forward answer, but it will be really nice  that the iBasso could able to let us edit the playlist through the PC

This is the only one i kept out of all the top daps, tried them all,i have the Plenue p1 on the way too:)
It it sounding better and better with every update, the second one being the real step up in refinement from the first one that sounded a little bit unbalanced imo.
My only 2 complaints are that library scan is still way too slow(if x5 can scan fast i don't see why dx90 cant?)
The other one is being able to go back to the last songs/albums with a back key rather than having to search by album on the main menu,i know it works immediately after selection but later on it seems to not be an option anymore..

Yeap, my 64gb card with 50gb songs in it takes about 20-25 minutes to scan it:rolleyes:

What? My 55gb song scan within 10minutes, maybe around 6-7. All of them are flac format varies from 16/44.1 to 24/192.

My card with around 50 gb of 16 bit flac files (0 level compression) and mp3s was scanned by dx90 (on 2.0.0. firmware) within 6-7 minutes.

Have been listening to the new firmware for about an hour

To me it sounds a bit more intimate, more natural and less analytic.

First thought was that it makes me more listen to the music and less listening to how the player sounds.

I have absolutely no problems with this version.

A small wish I have, is to be able to tap albumart to make it fill the screen (and retap to go back to the original screen, with small albumart)

Sonos works that way, and I like that.

The big wish I have, is Ibasso improving the firmware to extend battery life to say, 10 hours on one charge  ;)

Mine has asked every turn-on since it arrived mid-Apri!. Unless I take card out. iBasso said send it back but after using it for a further week on holiday, I then considered Cutoms/Import problems and decided not to return.

As much as I am an ibasso fan, there has always been the weird phenomena with their devices that different groups of users experience different behaviors from the units.  Some people will have persistent and repeatable problems while others will never see the issue at all with the same unit and firmware.  I never understood what caused this trend.
