Wow, If this is indeed the case as far as 16bit and 24bit playback goes then dx90 is the undeniable king of performance per cost not likely to be dethroned for a very long time. That's good enough for 99% of us common mortals who don't swim in money.I couldn't care less if it's snappier(dx90 is fast enough) or more fun to use.The balanced output and 256gb memory is nice to have of course and a no brainer for that kind of money.Kind of puts into a different perspective all those glowing reviews about the ''ultimate'' sounding player.Of course all those with deep pockets can upgrade to rwak240 and the balanced out will probably make it a better sounding player. That is until we find the damned samsung battery from japan. Then we''ll be having the ultimate sounding dap :D.

Yes, you poor folks are swapping batteries hoping for the best while the rich folks are getting theirs modded for $$$ss.  :D

Yes the LO is decent from the DX90, but getting an outboard amp to perform up to that spec will be nigh impossible. Literally, I don't think you will find a portable amp out there that can outperform the DX90 for use at normal to loud listening volumes. Even under stress, mainly you are just getting a different sound, or more voltage.

But voltage really only controls volume. I doubt anyone here wishes the DX90 went louder than it does for their earphones and portable headphones.

The only advantage the DX90 built in amp has over external amp is shorter signal path and smaller physical size. Any external amp can be of better design, using better components, have better power supply section, and offer easily experienced improvements like higher S/N ratio, better channel seperation, higher damping factor, etc.

Please post your "only advantage of higher voltage is louder volume" comment in the amp forum and see what kind of response you will receive.

I don't think even TI will agree with you that the opa1611 + BUF634 amp section cannot be better.

Here is his review of an external amp.  I'm reading contradictions.

I'm guessing it's the folks here that's buying them all.  :D  I wish I was like Vinnie, but with Korean and Japanese batteries for the DX90.

I'm wondering if the Hibino DX90 will be noticeably better than the original...that would be impressive, even at $500+. Hopefully it'll be available internationally.

There is the small problem that no amplified signal can be better than the signal that feeds it.

It still takes the signal from the device and is limited to reproducing that signal. It's not suddenly a different signal.

I'm not saying that the amp may sound better to you, I'm saying the amp cannot outperform the signal it is fed. That is impossible.

Well, AnakChan told me that R10 they swapped out an opamp to 627 and up the current and reduced the voltage with same capacity battery I believe.  So there can be some changes with the Japanese version of the DX90.  I thought the R10 sounded fantastic.  I can't say if it was better than the DX100 as I did not own one to do a comparison. It sounded the best out of the DAPs I've tried.  The only problem I had was the lag when switching songs.  I couldn't bear it.  If it had usb DAC functionality and get rid of the lag, I can live with the player.  I got rid of them all, and I can realized clip+ is good enough for me.  :o

I just found this guide to identifying counterfeit S3 batteries:

http://www.etradesupply.com/blog/identify-original-fake-cellphone-battery/

This web site (ETrade Supply) is a retailer that sells cell phone batteries, including the OEM S3 battery (for $15.00), so there could be a conflict of interest there.  However, the things pointed out in the guide seem very straightforward and logical.  If this guide is accurate, then I'm fairly certain the OEM S3 battery I purchased on eBay is counterfeit.

Are you listening to the DX90 LO directly?

You must also believe eating uncooked raw food will always give you the best nutrition.

I've read enough of your posts to guess that you either are trolling, or are punking me. I'm fine with either one. It's obvious, however, that you believe in magic.
