Been trying to get use to it tried many configurations slow or sharp roll and gain switch.. No way to get that dynamic n wide soundstage of 2.0.0. Sorry IMHO the 2.0.5 sound worst then Dx50.. I dun care abt the over sensitive screen or UI. SQ my top concern.

I totally agree with you, maybe also something to do with the combination with Grado headphones (I use SR325i)?

As for the firmware, neither 2.0.0 or 2.0.5 is 'best' -   9.9.0 is 'best'.

But we have to wait 2 years before iBasso release it

100% true, but we're all human so a little nagging (especially about what's better or worse) is a part of any Head-Fi / audio addicted . And iBasso helps us with that with the sound changes between the fw versions

It's feels like its a big soundstage and so many empty spaces between each elements (instruments) in the music.

2.0.5 on slow roll off makes Roxanne sound like filling those empty spaces a bit without making details overlap. Of course, some may think that the sound is somewhat muddier. But to my ears, Roxanne has never sound this natural while maintaining high detail resolution and good imaging.
I don't have the Roxane but all my iems sound better with 2.0.5
More natural still very detailed and great bass.

Yea. Once the Dac works and is tried and tested (via a few firmware upgrades) I should be getting this.

About time I gave my minerva mi-pro customs something better than my sgs/c3. They deserve it too, cracking earphones. Love them to bits.

Oh, I should clarify - my remark was not a dig at anyone here on Head-fi - Jamato's remark simply reminded me of life in general, and my response was totally about life in general, not aimed at anyone here complaining about firmware - you all have every right to complain about the firmware if it isn't working properly for the DAP you paid your hard-earned cash for :beerchug:

I have a Mac computer so I borrowed a friends Windows based laptop. For me it took a couple of tries to get it right, on using the batch tool. I do know that when I load the FW on the desktop and then open the window in the batch tool so I can load the FW I want into it, it will access the FW and then I plug the USB into the DX90 and push only on the + volume control and plug it into the computer. Then it will show the DX90 and the box turns green and I can proceed.

At first, I went from from the original SW to the 2.0.5 and really liked the UI but not the sound. I went back to the original, with the above mentioned method, and then because some said they preferred the newest, tried it again, did the factory reset, and to me, for what ever reason, the sound changed and I have no problems with the newest version and how it sounds. It is open, airy and has good bass impact and separation of bass notes. So why the change? I don't know, but the second time I loaded 2.0.5, I was fine with it.

No offense John but that's truly weird. The thing I don't really understand is why on earth do we need to go to so much misery reverting back to the original firmware, I never had to use RKtool ever before with the DX50?

Secondly, I still marvel with the fact that they keep changing the sq after so many attempts at doing it right. Thirdly why would the sound change with two installations of the same exact firmware?

It seems to me that this is another indication to not upgrade until they got their act together. Their action is turning into a nightmare support mess.

I do not agree it is a nightmare as that for me, is taking it way too far. Both FW's work for me. From what I have gotten from iBasso is the first FW and the new dual CPU, required the batchtool at first and then they got any future FW to work by dropping it onto the internal memory and going the regular route of upgrade.

On sound, I don't know. It is subjective. Maybe I jumped the gun. Maybe too much coffee who knows. The point is, I willingly tried the new FW again and feel fine with it.

And apparently from everything I have read, new FW's interact with the Rockchip in that the sound changes some. I don't have a dap though, that changing the FW did not change the sound. Either that was intentional by the manufacture or not but most of the time there was no comment on the change in sound from the manufacture. At least iBasso looks into this.

I have the Chord Hugo, considered by many to be one of the best dacs on the market, bar none. Competing with dacs cost 5 to 7 thousand and many consider compared to these, it is better. And even with all those accolades, a few prefer the mids of the 901 or the highs of the Anv 3 from Hifisound. Many do not agree with the previous sentence but that is life. There are so many variables. And there are some who do not like the UI of the Hugo and some who are fine with it and some who do not like the input and output access and some who are fine with it. I don't see any of this as the price we pay for a niche market, I see it as being adaptable myself and realizing that every step I take is an adventure as it is with the companies that manufacture these daps and dacs and I don't think anyone feels ripped off but if they do, then let them sell or send back what they have, whatever the option might be.

I give up :|

The reason to go back is simply to compare the differences in SQ. I do that to see which one works best with the headphones I mostly use. Because of the unique characteristics of my phones then certain characteristics suite them better than others. Im quite happy with both FW's its just that Im looking to suite my own set up best is all :)

Thanks for the replys...seems no matter what I do, I only get a pink box...never mind :/
