Bigger battery more size and weight. I find it to work great. For a day out, I just take the 90 if longer I pack a battery or two and they aren't in the way and the DX90 is still the same size in my pocket.

I actually own the above Kinps 4.35v battery, I also have a genuine Samsung battery. I can hear differences in sound between those two batteries and the stock battery. My favorite is the Samsung battery which has the cleanest sound, with most extended bass and treble, my guess would be that the internal impedance is lowest out of the three batteries. The Kinps battery definitely has the most impact of the three batteries, but doesn't sound as transparent or extended, has tamed treble and bigger bass, I would guess it has the highest internal impedance and/or the highest voltage. The stock DX90 battery sounds good, the transparency is about the same as the samsung battery, but its bass doesn't extend as low, and its treble is harsher, while the samsung battery has a more refined treble where you can hear its details easier. I bought my samsung battery of a headfier who couldn't hear a big difference, so if your not the type that can sit down and really focus on the fine details then don't bother. To me personally it is an essential upgrade in sound as I love extended bass and refined treble.

Thank you Jamato8. I did as you suggested and it turns out the DX90 is faulty. Guess I am about to experience iBasso customer service.

I didn't even know my DX90 was broke. Failure mode is loud pop during turn-on and turn-off. Also no relay click.

I have that battery, its same size as stock battery, but there is no way it is 3200mAH, its more like 2200mAH. If your looking at it for increased battery life then don't bother, but as a spare battery its fine, it will have a different sound to the stock battery though.

Hmm ... I'd assumed my freezing were due to cover.jpg files as it was more stable when I removed them (but still froze up sometimes after adding files) ... anyway, great to have it working!!

That's what I ended up doing, remember DX50 owners first batch got two batteries. biggrin.gif

I saw a nice aircraft grade aluminum alloy enclosed battery pack, looks as good as the DX90 most likely even better lol but again, we are talking about a stack. rolleyes.gif

Here is the link, pretty nice actually, two main colors wink.gif

I don't see how it would be a greater mA for the same size as others would do it also but Ron and I get more run time than a stock battery.

Thinner layers in the cell.

May not have as long a lifetime, but that's the trade-off.

Probably not as much as 3200mah, though. Probably more like 2600mah.

I recently backed a product on kickstarter, it does a few neat things. For instance it'll tell you the battery capacity.

Check it out.

If it says firmware 2.05 under Settings>Advanced>System info and you have done a factory reset, then the Filters will be working fine. The rest is up to your ears, the quality of the music file and how revealing you earphones are. Its only a subtle difference, and not so revealing iems, or low bitrate files would make it difficult to hear

@soundblast As I have understand this filters are implemented in the DAC for 44.1 kHz/16 bit material music files ...

Nop it' for anything that plays PCM which can go much higher and it's done in the digital domain. Lots of reads about it's features, just google the dac and you shall find.

Pre-ringing is the artifact I would rather eliminate instead of phase incoherence. For those of you new to this, you guys should go educate yourselves about inherent artifacts created by modern sigma-delta conversions. I believe Resonessence had a nice long article explaining it somewhere on their site.

And I found it for you guys:
