3. Answer 2 first.

1. I tried two microSD cards, Toshiba 32Gb Sandisk 64Gb, both were formatted Fat32

2. a. I did but it did not work and kept being charged

    b. I tried but it was too slow

    c. I charged it using an LG phone charger, rated at 2.1A, and a Samsung phone charger rated at 740mA

Worst thing of all, the process seemed cause a short circuit in my mains supply.

Must be a defective unit contact iBasso and ask for a replacement.

Alright. I'm using this post as a space holder for interest in a Red Wine Audio Balanced DX90 mod.

List:

1.Kojaku

2. tin427

3. AmberOzL

4. wickson

5. gongos

6. nc8000

I'll add people if they PM me. Once we get to ten, I will recontact Vinnie and ship my DX90 to him immediately. Upon completion of the mod, I will put up a comparison article/video on headfi and on my website. Again, this is only for interest so that I can convince Vinnie to begin the project. It isn't a group buy or anything.

Do you think a battery like this one

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3800mAh-Battery-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-i9300-EB-L1G6LLU-High-Capacity-Free-Ship-/161275681000

would firstly work in the DX 90 and/or increase the battery life

It works fine but it is only a 2200 mAH battery. I bought one several weeks ago. It lasts exactly the same as the standard battery..

I would be interested in RWA balanced mod on this device (maybe increased storage too?). You guys can add me to the list.

The only problem is, I spent my money on a new ciem and a remolding of an old one, so for the moment I can't just go and buy it directly, but if the mod becomes successful (especially if there is a chance to increase storage) I would definitely buy one.

We can use higher capacity batteries, now we will have balanced output (hopefully both headphone and line out) and if he can increase that ridiculous 8 gb to something like 128 gb or maybe add another micro sd slot or even better normal sized sd slot, I give you my word friends, I will buy this player asap and that will be the end of the line dap for me.

If that's the case.. I would pay the same ($419) for the mod itself....

I have that one. I get an extra hour or so out of it... its definitely not as large of a battery as it claims

So are you guys planning to plug DX90 to a very long cable runs?

I thought Vinnie would only mod things that he is interested in and that he feels there are improvements from the result....

And that allows him to make money, he's running a business not a charity.

There are too many factors for this mod that makes it unattractive, at least for a large amount of people. The device has been designed with severe limitations and definitively not for a balanced configuration. Power will be the major issue, you will have to increase the battery output to be able to keep up with it's current running time which is not a lot compared to its earlier brother (DX50). IMO it's better to wait until economy of scale works it's magic once iBasso has spent the R&D concocting an appropriate version else you'll throw good money after bad.
