After reading the review, I consider myself very lucky to realize how much I enjoy my DX90, and do not feel agonize of owning it.

The reviewer have every right to dislike his DX90, people are dis-alike, we are born to be different and think different.

True, he said it in the review he has not heard any hifi DAPs before and he's familiar with iPods/smartphones. For all we know he's using an iPod buds which definitely won't sound any different on DX90 nor any other DAP for that matter. He mentioned different types of phones but nothing specific.

That is why I value impressions in the forums rather than on a review article. At least if you post something in the forum you it's actively open for discussion and counter discussion.

I am planning to buy a dx90 and sell my dx50.
is the dx90 that much better than the dx50?

Also is the amp section good enough to drive big cans like Beyer dt990 or he400?

"Good enough" appears to be a matter of personal taste. Just for your reference a few members here including myself is very satisfied with DX90 driving a Beyer T1. There are others who reported being satisfied with DT880. I think DT990 is at the same level power-wise with DT880.

HE400 I think will do much better compared to DT990 or even a T1. But still YMMV.

I'm sort of planning on pairing the DX90 up with the new upcoming 400i. I thought about the 560, but I think I'll always be wondering about attaching a seperate amp to juice it. To avoid the dilemma altogether I think I might go with the 400i if the revews are just as good as the 560. If not then I'm back on the 560 train.

I stopped burning in my DX90 at about the 200 hour mark. I just got lazy and the unit sounded so good that I decided I would enjoy the rest of the improvements slowly. I think they're mighty impressive even at half the recommended burn-in and definitely an improvement over when they were brand new (raw). IMHO Only.

Depends somewhat upon personal preference and the tracks themselves. I would say it does not universally drive 880/600s well enough by itself. However it may be perfectly fine for what you wish to use it for.

I sold the DX50 after I got the Dx90.The DX50 is abt 80% of dx90 when new... But as dx90 slowly burn in the gap is pull further apart.

Drives my HE-400 just fine on high gain with volume about halfway up :)

Decision time for me. The IBasso site is currently down ahead of the May 7th second batch launch -smily_headphones1.gif

LOL at 'burn in is a lie' so I'm writing this review after 40 hrs. It's good out of the box but not special for while. That phrase is the sort of self fulfilling prophesy I see all the time on headfi. Too stubborn to follow a simple instruction or use good enough kit for a proper result. I'm skeptical so I'll do it my way instead of the recommended one and see, I was right.
