I have about 4 TBs of music right now (still growing), a lot more to rip from vinyl although I don't plan on tackling that stack anytime soon. About a third of my collection is Hi-Res, takes a lot of space. Just pick what you like and go. Most well recorded music can't even be enjoyed on the go IMO.

Ripping from vinyl that sounds like even more fun than ripping CDs.

It's a dreadful task, one that I don't wish to attempt most days. Honestly, I rather buy the digital copy sometimes.

I have some good vinyl rips a friend did/does. Excellent stuff when done right but I know what you mean. I no longer have a vinyl rig. Man, how I miss it. I have some rare LP's. 35mm tape recordings in pristine condition and my Quicksilver Full Function Preamp to for the phono section. . . . oh well.

I am with you however my OCD err CDO as Soren likes to refer to it as typically prevents me from purchasing digital copies.

Yes that's an amazing cable, have had it on my JH13 for nearly 3 months now under nda

I have the V3 on my JH13. The new gold plated silver I have in 8 plait on the Fostex, have it on my ESW10 JPN and my LCD-2. Each one improved in sound, which hasn't always happened with new cable. I have read that the Fostex 900's don't really need to be recabled but they did change with the new Whiplash gold plated silver. Music just gets better and better.

With everything being resolved all the more, these cables really benefit what I listen to. Interesting how audio, for the most part, gets better, bit by bit. :^)

will iBasso utilize something like HM901's balanced switch and TRRS plug to make the DX90 balanced capable? hmm...

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get the best rig from iBasso

Probably not, but I would love if they would

That would be neat, and I have thought of it but the amp section would need to be doubled up, the current requirement would be higher, the battery life would most likely be around 5 or 6 hours and I doubt they would do it.

Not really doubling, depending on the original design of 7 opamps and 2 buffers , I'm guessing 3 more opamps/buffer? Also it is also nice to make the output opamp rollable ala PB2 ?

Maybe we can ask Ibasso to check if the balanced configuration is possible. Battery wouldn't be a problem since you can bring spare batteries and change it.

Like a mini HM901 lol

Also they can offer an extended battery option by offering a different battery cover like those with the S3

All speculation. I have designed and built preamps and other equipment. If you go by specs, you have specs. I can build a preamp with 1929 27 tubes that will trounce most anything out there and that is, well fairly old stuff and it doesn't look so great when you pick out the specs of the tube but it is pure music, true music, when implemented right. Solid bass, open, transparent and a sound stage you can walk into. I have a feeling the sound is going to be fine though and worthy of the music it will play.

I particularly like this phrase of yours: "a sound stage you can walk into".  It reminds me of my tv with "an image stage I can walk into".

Cheers!

Gold plated silver cables? I thought the only "gold" cables that Whiplash sells are those with 1% gold injected to fill in the micro-gaps in-between the silver molecular structure for better electrical signals and lower impedance. Just like toxic poison cable etc. Gold-plating is a totally different thing which does not really alter/improve sound quality but rather preserve the underneath copper/silver from oxidation. Only issue with gold-plating over silver is that it will not work out because gold easily dissolves into the silver after a while and you will lose the outer gold layer after a while. People only plate gold over copper because it is less "soluble" in copper, i.e. will not mix in.
