It's surely something they are not inclined in announcing, gotta be a firmware coding issue wink.gif

Any opinion on why the volume spikes don't occur on all of the dx50?

I wouldn't notice, since I'm using an external amp via LO and my volume is set to 255 anyways.wink.gif

Somehow it does not happen on the LO and I leave mine on 240 at all times, never got a spike so must be with controlling the HO line somehow, there might be some additional variable from maybe the manufacturing process that makes some units in some batches more susceptible, who knows?

Having received a DX90, I will say that the separation and ultimate dynamics is some of the best I have heard. The amp section is excellent, exceptional and even with my fi.Q, which I regard as the best amp I have heard and having compared it to some very highly regarded home amps, I feel no need to use an external amp. Thee is power in reserve and even with complex music, the sound field does not collapse.

This little DAP is truly a music player in the highest regard. The new jacks are the best I have used, exceptional grip and perfect for mobile use. The screen is very responsive and scanning of a full 64gb card is relatively fast, a few minutes for the card. You can use the DX90 as a dac via the USB and with the OTG I am able to use a 128gb in the Micro slot and that or whatever I choose, giving me 256gb of music and on and on. What a joy this player is!

Oh, the signal to noise ratio is now rated at 119.

I. Hate. You.

April 7th couldn't come quick enough! How does it compare to a DX50, roughly speaking?

I love the DX50 and will never give it up, such a musical player. The DX90 has more separation, with concrete sounds coming from where they are imaged, right, left, back, forward but solid. The dynamics are incredible and the overall presentation is just a level of its own. I hear less wrap around and more placement where the sound should be. So much control, so solid and yet all to the service of the music!

I am sorry, it looks just like the DX50 but with DX90 on the back and on the screen and the software is a little different though I imagine with the next update for the DX50, they will be the same.

^ Still would be nice to see some pics just so you can make us drool further.

Is the weight the same as the DX50s or is it heavier??? Seem the latter is mo' likely due to differences of the internals???

Oh and most importantly how much it the unit or was yours a review sample???

Jamato, thank you for the first impressions.

When you use USB OTG function with meenova+micro sd card, does unit gets hotter than usual? Also how much it affects the battery life? What is the usual battery life and what is the battery life when USB OTG is in use?

I am would be so happy if you could answer those questions, it will help me to choose DX90 or keep on saving and waiting for something that checks more boxes in my list.

How did you manage to get your hands on a DX90? Is the screen the same as the DX50?

Kick ass. If you got to hear an X5, how does it compare?
