I can vouch for kunlin. He is articulate and can justify any claims he makes. I also feel his comments are accurate in the sense he is consistent in his views.

As for all what he or us hear , we all hear a little different and some of us a lot .

Hey Alrainbow,

Not related to Mr. G but I have a question for you. Do you still use HDP R10? Will you pair Roxanne with it? I am curious because it is rather hard to find R10 users.

Yes I do still have it. I'm using it now with my tg 334 made custom
And when my Roxanne's get here I will post a review

Oh that's nice, I guess R10 has no big con for you? I saw a price drop on them, made me interested honestly. Okay, it has its design flaws and all but it is a perfect sounding all in one device. I was thinking maybe I can get your advise on this. If it is too off topic you can send me a PM too.

I'm fine now and here . I also own the Ak120. As well. I think they both sound very good for a porticoes dap. Although I use them with IEM,s daily they both do work well with two headphones the HD800 and the LCD3, s. . I tried both in a home system as well. They both sound ok in this too. Of course with full size speakers they do not seem as good as with IEM,s or headphones. As to the hdpr10. It's bulky for sure and heavy and the ak120 is small and light .i do like the HDPr10 better though. The sound is just more detailed to my ears. A little better overall SQ. But the AK120 is more consistent in not glitching . Where the HDP r10 and the new beta software has greatly improved the hang ups .

And keep in mind the hdpr10. Only had three firmware updates and the dx100 although popular has so many more. As for sound the HDP has not changed to my ears from the day I rec it. I like it a lot
The battery last me for days as well . I would say its about 6 to 8 hours of play. Also it does dsd directly. But WAV does sound better and saves battery for sure. When playing dsd it converts on the fly to PCM . As such the UID slows down a little more than usual. Also the AK120 UID is much faster in response.

Hope this helps

Yeap, great help man thanks. I think I will wait and see what X5 and a few new coming daps will bring and choose one of them. With the new price drop and all, R10 still a very good contender, despite its size and a few glitches. I also use mostly flac and wav. Don't have any DSD honestly. With usual cd quality flac/wav and TG334 UM Custom, how long the battery lasts? I am hoping to see 10 hours at least?

I do not know exactly the hours I just as I need it
But I do get at least 3 days before charging So as I stated about 8 hours
Maybe ten but I would be more inined to 8. You cannot charge it without the included charger
It will not charge through the USB. Some people say it does I call bull on that.
So if you buy it understand no pocket charging like you can with the AK120.

Ok man, got it. Thank you very much really, much appreciated. If I get it, I might need help on firmware updates, I could see only 8.02 on Hibino's website. but I heard 8.03 in head-fi forum. Anyway let's stay on topic, thanks again for all the help and information.

Beta but apparently works better than stable 8.02? Any idea whether Hibino stopped working on R10 or they will continue supplying FW updates?

Wow, 1000th post, congrats Al :D

Yeah, in Eu or The States, it is difficult to get their products. I will get through pricejapan if I decide to get R10.

Sort of my point but more regarding the Shure. This is a JH thread with many 13 owners. I do find it interesting that he thinks them u shaped. And Kunlun, it wasn't a personal attack if I say that your bias may be showing. We all have them and your's is known from years of posts regarding JH even if no longer in effect. Apologies if I got it wrong but our pasts do follow us around a bit. Preference is always king and there's a reason all these products sell. Happy New Year!

I can tell you that during my cable hunt that my JH13FPs would sound from dark to lean to middy depending on the cable used.(warm with copper or copper litz. lean with silver and middy with silver plated copper or silver/1% gold though those generalities can vary by individual wire. The 1p2 silver cable isn't lean for instance. The 13 isn't perfect but it's close enough to neutral that it was preferred in comparisons at innerfidelity, is still Joker's top device (though I'm sure something will be preferred at some point) and close enough to right to not be trounced by something else though anything could be preferred by any individual without being wrong.

Just by curiosity,  anyone (from the Roxanne owners) had any issue with the twist lock mechanism on the cable?  Mine disintegrated in a few days. JHAudio was super nice and is helping me replace the cable.  Just curious if this was just me not being careful enough (most likely scenario) ...  Maybe I over tightened it ...

I will try to be extra gentle with the new cable once I get it :)
