Buying Advice: Senn 439 vs UE6000

Thread Starter

I am looking for a closed budget headphone that has a decent sound overall. I mainly listen to hip-hop, jazz, and a EDM every now and then.

I really enjoy a nice sound-stage, and also like to have enough bass when I listen to hip hop.

While I like bass I wouldn't consider myself a bass-head, and need to have decent highs and mids.

I'm looking for closed ear headphones and on a 100$ budget, so far I've narrowed it down to the sennheiser 439 and logitech ue6000, and have also looked the CAL

Any advice?

I picked up the UE6000 a few days ago and they should be here Monday so I can't really attest to to SQ, but I have researched them a ton and they seem like a great headphone (especially at the price right now) and may suit your tastes more. From what I've seen from the 439s (based entirely on other reviews) is that they are not for bassheads and require a lot of burn in for the bass to become clearer and less muddy. It seems from the type of music you listen to you'd like the UE6000s, but I don't think you could go wrong with the 439s either. They are both less than $80 right now (I picked up my UE6000 for $75 including shipping). The large amount of positive reviews for the UE6000 (like innerFidelity's) made me jump on them especially since they retail for $200
