Newbie looking for a not too expensive DAC

Hello there,

I pretty much have no knowledge about DACs and was wondering if you guys could help me on this. I am searching for a DAC in a price range of around 160$ (or less).

I currently have an old Stax SR-40, an AKG K701 and a pair of triangle speakers on a Yamaha Natural Sound Stereo Amplifier A-420, but lack of a good DAC to drive it all. I want to use it as an interface between my computer and the amp (I'm thinking about USB input and RCA output) and will use it for listening to music, playing games and watching movies. I also need it to be available in Europe, since I live in France.

I heard this one was pretty good for its price, is it a good idea to get one or is there a better solution? (http://www.amazon.com/Music-Streamer-High-Resolution-Converter/dp/B0038O4UFQ)

Thank you in advance for your replies.

So the computer will be connected to the A-420 and the headphones will be plugged into the Yamaha?

I was planing of connecting the computer to the DAC, the DAC to the amp and then the speakers/headphones to the amp, isn't it how it is usually done ?

Yes, it is how I would assume your connecting everything.

But just wanted to double check, some people have some strange ideas on how everything is connected.

Now just have to figure out what DACs are sold in France.

Yeah I know too much what you mean.

The DAC I linked to in my first post is available on amazon.fr, but again I don't know much more.

In my past experiences I didn't have much trouble finding something I wanted available in France, I'd assume it being pretty much the same with DACs, but I never had to search for one in particular aside from the HRT one so I don't really know.

Do you have some names I could search for?

Edit: I've seen this one before, is it good or at least better than the other one? ( http://www.musicalfidelity.com/products/vSeries/v-dacii/ )

In fact, you can see some of the DACs I can buy throught amazon.fr there
