Reviews + impressions thread: Final Audio Design Pandora Hope VI (interesting dynamic + BA full size headphones) - Page 33

I find the bass adequate in the pandora VI, has the "punch" I need for EDM while being subtler when it has to in classical music and such. Certain tracks will release the kraken, or so to say (hardstyle anyone)?

I have had the Pandora VI for about two weeks now, and while I don't like to say too much until I really feel like I "know" a headphone, I will say that the bass is quite good all things considered. It strikes me as a bit more than ideal and just a bit bloomy, but doesn't obscure the rest of the range. Unlike something like the Sennheiser IE8 that was (to me) unacceptable in this regard.

They could be considered as having a slight bottom-range tilt, but whether that's good or not depends on your tastes I think. It does it exceptionally well, and if you like a darker sound then these are nearly perfect.

I wonder how well the Pandora VI actually releases the kraken

For those of You who are interested - Final Audio showed their new Pandora Hope VIII on the munich High End show last week end.

The sound to me was stunning as far as I could hear in this environment.  (the price also - they said it will cost around 3.000 USD. The earshells are covered with 24k gold ...)  It should be available soon in asia - in Europe it will probably be august till you can get it.

Here are pics (taken with my Iphone - sorry for the quality)

Any issues with the sliders...tight enough? The cups deep enough? :-)

I didn't recognize any issues with the sliders, but then I was only wearing them for a few minutes.

The cups had the same depth as the Hope VI to my perception - so there will probably be the same issue there as with the PHVI - only that it will be more difficult to finds other ear pads that fit the brown colour.

BTW - I asked the japanese lady at the booth about replacement pads for hte PH VI - she didn't seem to be aware of the issue, but recommended to try the pads from the PH IV (which are a little deeper).

Wow these look absolutely stunning...If they are truly an upgrade to the Hope VI, all I can say is better start saving!

In the interest of science, I've been running my PH6 straight out of my Macbook Pro, no amp or DAC.

Um... looks like I can sell my Verza.

They're 8 ohms with 105 dB sensitivity, no need to worry about amping. Amplification quality still matters of course, but there's not much need for a dedicated amp. A good amp/DAC combo or a DAC with a preamp should work fine.

Well it appears the Macbook Pro (2013 model) has a good enough internal DAC that the external DAC ain't necessary. So... yep. Dang.

If anyone is currently considering letting go of his Pandora please do let me know. Wanna climb aboard the ship.

I'm boarding in a few weeks!

Yeah always thought my Macbook had a decent DAC... (2012 model)

Any comparisons between this and HE-500?

^^vs he500 from memory:
Pandora 6 =
Less open
More dynamic
More punchy
Less comfortable
Similar midrange balance
Smoother treble but may be as bright?
More bass with better punch but more reverb
Honestly the are the closest hp's in balance to the 6 but if I had to choose only one headphone it would prob be the 6 because it's more natural and dynamic. I can't remember things like imaging etc but I will have an he500 again soon and I am thinking of letting the he6 go to get the pandora but I don't know yet.

I know I am late but the mids are just as forward in the upper mids and a little less in the lower mids. Overall this headphone beats my crack/speedball n hd650 combo straight from my iMac out in a lot of way namely clarity. It's not as deep in soundstage though.

Sounds good. Thanks for the help. I think I should get one so I have a headphone I can use out of my iPod as a semi-portable (sitting on my apartments balcony, on the bus to/from school, and on spares). Are the lower mids comparable in quality to the HD650? I'm mainly concerned with bass and vocals, particularly female.
