Looking for a DAC with my needs.

Hello everybody

I am looking for a good DAC for my current and future setup. These are my needs:

- 24-bit USB input and at least one other digital input

- Switch/button to select the input

- At least one RCA output and a headphone output (for my Beyerdynamic T70p)

- SNR: >=105dB

- Preferably a seperate master and headphone volume control

- An internal power supply (230V), but a seperate is also allowed

- Should work at least 3 years without problems/replacements

- Maximum budget of 400 euro/550 dollar (shipping and taxes included)

- Available in Europe

I am going to use the DAC for gaming, movies and music. The analog output will be used to connect the DAC to an amplifier (which I will buy in the future) and the headphone output will be driving my Beyerdynamic T70p.

I have been looking at the Audioengine D1, which seems to be good, but I have a question about it: How do you switch between the S/PDIF input and the USB input?

Thanks and happy holidays!

What I do not want is a chinese brand (no offense). I have a lot of bad experiences with them, because they don't work correctly or just die very fast.

Not quite the DACs I'm looking for. Maybe you should read the desired specs. Also would like all the connectors to be on the back of the device (not headphone out) and all the controls on the front/top.

I already searched for hours, but I just can't decide which one to get.

Probably more a waste of money, since I won't be using most of its features.

I have been looking at this DAC for a while:

Asus Xonar Essence STU

And at the All-in-ones:

NAD D 3020

TEAC A-H01

It does everything you asked for, is within your budget and offers equivalent performance to RME gear. i.e. comparable with the best available at any price. It is also manufacturered by an established and trusted pro grade company with a proper dealer network and after sales support team.

So what if you get some features you don't realise you have a need for yet? You soon will.

Don't know what MIDI and PEDAL is, so won't use it. Won't use the mic input. The lights on the front will just be annoying when watching a movie. And if I want to connect an analog input to it, I will have to buy adaptors for it to plug them in. Not quite the thing I'm looking for.
