RCA cable suggestions/info for Schiit Magni

Thread Starter

Greetings,

I just ordered the Schiit Magni headphone amp for my Beyer DT 880 headphones but I need an RCA cable to use them.

I really don't know much about RCA cables and since I do not have an external dac I will just need to plug the Magni directly into my computer with a 1/8" plug. I've found threads on this site stating the consensus that Blue Jean cables are solid. So right now I am looking at the Blue Jean MSA-1 Audio Cable, any thoughts on these?

Also, the absolute max I will spend on cables is $50.

Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

Thanks

I use this ^

Its built well enough for my purposes, I've run across it with the chair countless times and it holds up perfectly.

Also, the RCA housing clamps down on the connector and makes for a ridiculously solid connection. It is just a Belkin cable. I don't worry about really expensive cables, especially a splitter.

As for Blue Jeans I've never owned a product of theirs but I too have heard wonderful reviews. However I'm unsure whether or not you have to wait for them to make your order. That can add substantially to your wait.

Monoprice has great audio cables at low prices. Too bad there not in Canada!

I think I've said it before on here, though their "premium" cables are pretty good, the connectors are horrible. If you plan on unplugging them more than twice then I suggest you look somewhere else.

Go with the BJC. Can't go wrong.

I also had ordered a Magni and went with the suggested Monoprice cables and they were awful. There were all kinds of hissing if I moved and breaks in the music. I found some Mediabridge cables for $10 that were clearly superior and had some nice tight connectors - but not so tight that you can't unplug them if need be. If I were at my regular computer I would send you a link. Just Google them. If you compare the two side by side the difference in quality is night ann day. I don't think you have to spend the coin on Blue Jeans to get the sound you're looking for.

I have some Blue Jeans RCA cables (cost around $30 I think, for 1 m), and they are great. Well worth the money if you want something a little nice but not actually expensive.  IDK about sound quality, I'm not saying they sound better, but they are just beefy and solid. I could probably knock a person out with them

manbear your 666 post! Quick post again or pay the eternal price!.

Yes, BJC is a bit more expensive but solidly built and custom lengths is a nice feature as well. That said, most any decent RCA will do. For me, in analog world, I prefer to err on overkill. Mediabridge does get a lot of love around here so sure they are fine. These Nuforce cables are extremely flexible and well made. Own some.
