Help choose a amp, or recommend a amp for me, or preferential setup

Thread Starter

hi guys, new to the scene but always been a enthusiast of music so been really excited to get into the headphone scene

recently purchased a pair of Fostex TB 600 headphones and a portable amp for them, the v-moda vamp verza

running my ipod, phone or ipod nano through this portable amp to the headphones and i am still not quiet happy with the sound, still doesn't seem to get very loud or deliver the experience im looking for, although the amp def does improve the experience and sound dramaticly

i have noticed that when i plug my headphones directly into something like my Apple desktop, that the increase in volume is outstanding, but obviously the sound quality lacks, so i presume that purely a power source issue that determines the volume my headphones receive

so anyways, i originally thought id use my headphones travelling and getting around, thus purchased the port amp, but after purchasing them ive def noticed i enjoy listening and prefer listening at home

so id like to purchase a amp that will deliver the experience and sound im looking for

few things the amp needs, some of these might be obvious but as a newb i gotta state them
1. has to have 2 headphone ports, only becoz my misses has been getting into the scene with me lately so id like to have a amp we both can share in our relaxation/listening sessions
2.  the amp needs to be compatible with a desktop computer, laptop, and mp3 player to play music through
3. obviously the biggest improvement in sound quality and volume im looking for from the amp

here is what im considering from what ive searched, let me know if you have ANY other suggestions or better recommendation

1. fostex, figured id match my headphones to the high end amp of the same brand

2. thought it fit my needs

ive looked at tube amps etc, not really knowledgable enough about them to have decided whether there suitable or what im looking for

all advice and input welcome

OO and Budget is under 3,000, unless something a little more pricey is worth the coin

thankyou

Hi thatbloke,

Welcome to Head-Fi.   Sorry about your wallet.  :(  Just out of curiosity, what headphone is your misses using?
