Charlotte, NC Meet: April 19th 2014 - Page 22

From what I've heard so far I'd say the 007 is a better all rounder in that it is not as picky of the quality of tracks as the 009 and you don't miss out on too much. However the 009 is a microscope and doesn't gloss over anything that I can tell and is exceptional with hi def music. Some of it's other strengths are there sounds like more room in between instruments than the 007 and the build quality is nicer.

It will be interesting to see how it will be received at a meet cause it took me awhile to get acclimated to its sound, I think with a quick listen to both the 007 warm + detailed sound might be the favorite

The 007 is my favorite of all time. It's my deserted island hp for sure...

Sadly, it's looking as if I'm not going to be able to attend.  I'll be able to tell for sure in the next two weeks, but I'm not holding my breath.  Just had to drop a bit South of a grand on my car, and I upgraded my PC right before this, so money is going to be tight for a bit.

  • Dailydoseofdaly.
  • Generally speaking, any thoughts on how the 009 compares to the Jade that you heard at my house?
  • Just curious.

Man that's tricky with out it in front of me but from the handful full of times I've heard your jades I'm pretty certain tonally it's more similar to the jade than your 007 but it keeps the stax vocal presentation and soundstage. After the meet your welcome to try them in home for awhile and get more acquainted with what they can do, not like you live all that far from me.

That is very kind of you to offer but hopefully, I will be able to get a good comparison at the meet and not need to take your beloved 009s with me.

That's cool, they are going on a short tour after the meet, so you would be an easy first stop if you needed more time/quiet place to a/b

Pez hope you can make it, not sure where your out of but maybe we could arrange a carpool or something to save some $

Hey everyone.............If the expense of an overnight stay is what's keeping you from attending maybe you'd consider sharing a room. Post to the thread to see if you can find someone else interested.

Might try to go with my cousin, its a long drive all the way from Delaware. If I attend I'll bring my PS-500's as well as my Audio Technica ATH-Pro700 MKII's as well as what ever amp I will have gotten by that time.  It'll be the first meet for both of us and we'll be able to experience some higher end cans which should be fun.  Anyways I think PS-500s are legit enough to discount me from being an ordinary trouble-making teenager if that's what you guys are thinking but whatever.

It will be great to have you and your cousin join us. The two of you represent the future of this hobby and I, for one, enjoy passing along whatever information and experience I have gained over the years. I think several others in the group think the same way. The two of you are more than welcomed to be part of our gathering and appreciate the effort you will be making with the distance you will be traveling.

We would love to have you. I've been wanting to hear the PS-500 again myself.

You're also welcome to come. You should come listen to my rig. I enjoy some hip hop also aside from normal audiophile stuff. You just don't see it a lot because of the generational and cultural gap. That and a lot of hip hop tracks are poorly mastered. However I have some lossless tracks that sounds great even on a high end hd800 setup. For example, my Tech N9ne and N.E.R.D. Tracks are well recorded and sounded great on high end gear. I've noticed stuff produced by Pharrell sounds really good in general.

This!  Also, as much as it hurts me to admit it, whoever masters stuff for Dre does a good job as well.  Wonder why his headphones don't sound as good.

^I have a 24/96 rip of dre's chronic 2001 haha, I does sound pretty good, perhaps not on the beats though tongue.gif

Tech N9ne is one of my favorite rappers but yeah I've acknowledged the general lack of quality in rap recordings. In my opinion they should be getting better quality as technology improves but in a lot if recordings, the opposite is true. But a funny thing about Dr. Dre is that he doesn't even use his own headphones, he actually uses a pair of M-50s. It's amusing when I get called out for not wearing beats and then they listen to my Pro700s and then finally you tell them the price tag. One guy refused to believe that they were better and denied it completely and then claimed they were for studio use and I just told him to stop there. Idk why I said that but I feel you all have probably had similar experiences
