Fiio X3 Authenticity Question:

First of all I hope I'm posting this is the right area.

I created another thread asking about headphones to pair with my newly acquired Fiio X3 that my girlfriend bought for me as an early Christmas gift.

However, this post is NOT about recommendations. Instead it's about authenticity.

My girlfriend purchased this Fiio X3 on eBay new, from a seller that has sold 103 of these thus far. I've read through the feedback and there's been nothing but positive remarks.

However when I got my hands on the unit it was in fact sealed completely with cellophane and appeared to be brand new.

So I opened it up and the very first thing I did this morning was scratch the authenticity label on the outside of the box and went to Fiio's website to enter the 20 digit code.

After doing so, it came back with "The number you are checking does not exist. The product is not manufactured by Fiio company".

I've contacted the seller on eBay with my findings earlier this morning and I'm not waiting until they email me back.

In the meantime, I was hoping to find out if there's any other way of checking the unit physically to see if it's authentic or not?

After looking at the reviews on here along with unboxing videos, EVERYTHING appears to be the same but the authenticity check is not panning out.

Thoughts?

Have you tried contacting FiiO first? It might just be a case where someone in FiiO forgot to put those number into the system. X3 isn't something you can fake easily so it is extremely unlikely you have a fake.

I've sent them an email and am now waiting on a reply. Considering that I haven't seen any negative feedback from the other 103 that sold, I'm feeling a little bit more at ease. Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's much appreciated. :)

I received my email back from Fiio and everything is a go. They had issues with their database and I was assured that I indeed had a legitimate Fiio product. I'm much relieved. Although my girlfriend was simply trying to do something nice for Christmas, I think I'll be purchasing my audio products from now on so I don't have to worry about getting authentic products. Lol. :)
