FiiO X5 preview world tour--tour members, claim your souvenir for the X5 tour! p.123 - Page 15

I'm just going to put WAV or AAC files on my 2 GB one. There's no sense in spending another $35 on another 64 GB card that I'll use once. >.>

I probably won't even end up filling the 64 GB card as I only used ~25 when I had a 32 GB one for my Sansa Clip Zip before it ejected somewhere onto the sidewalk when I dropped it.

We're lucky enough to have been selected to preview these units.  I already have 1 x 64 Gb card, and just ordered another one purely for the review (it'll come in handy long term anyway).  It's a small price to pay for an exclusive early look.

Those things are also a PITA. Considering the number of reviewers out there and how fricking small those things are, can you imagine including something smaller than a penny as a vital part of the tour?

Also, not including a storage ability with the tour helps FiiO out in case any 'questionable' content finds its way onto the stuff they provide. One of the points they included as a condition for the tour

Actually I find the 8Gb of internal storage on the X3 a pain the rear.  Although part of that is how the browse feature works on the X3.  So no inbuilt storage on X5 is OK by me.

I use a series of 64Gb Class 10 Sandisk and an odd Sony Class 10.  No no name crap in my kit.  Have been stung before.

All of my current tracks are ripped vinyl, CD and DVD Audio in FLAC and ALAC.

Now here's my problem.  I have a number of SACD discs.  In the past I have simply payed the SACD on a suitable player (e.g. OPPO) and taken an analogue feed off the output and re-encoded in FLAC.

I would like to try/test the DSD playback on the X5.  Is there a way to rip/copy the DSD stream on my SACD's to my cards ???

And hey I have read posts on using an old firmware PS3 etc etc, to rip SACD's.  Not going to happen.

I think you all misunderstood me...

I mean FOR THE RETAIL VERSION (i.e. when you buy the unit!) NOT for the tour!!! As I mentioned I already have TWO 64gb microSD cards (plus my phone's card, etc. etc.)

The AK100 MK2 came with 2 32GB microSD card in the package with the Player for a total of 96GB out of the box! I was wondering if FiiO was planning or entertaining on doing the same thing since the player doesn't have internal memory...

Classy packaging BTW for the AK... ;) (sounds good as well... don't find it as powerful as the X3 but sound impressions for when the X5 arrives :p)

(don't even know where I put the spare 2x32GB cards that come with the Astel and Kern player!)

BTW, is FiiO going to do a solid and pack microSD cards with the units?!? ** hint hint **

agreed Fiio... ship n Sd with the X5 an im staying in the que... also Ill buy a mirco SD. An ill... still I can understand them possibly not including any internal memory for the tour units as a way to prevent any ilegal content from getting back to them

I suspect there's no possibility of including any storage in the tour as it opens us to the liability of possibly having pirated music being disseminated from one member to the next. Of course such a liability would have been inevitable if the X5 did have internal storage--but it does not.

Yea I figured as much as well!

Truth be told I have no issue buying storage for it I just HATE Mirco SD Cards... I've owned and lost like 3 of those stupid things <.< they are too small and I ALWAYS lose them xD

So I'm more frustrated that there's a small chance I will buy...and lose yet ANOTHER one... I think my Full Size SD get's jealous and eats the lil guys <.<

You can pick up an 8GB micro sd card for around $6 on amazon or eBay, I really don't see what the big problem is here, less than a meal at McDonalds. If members have agreed and willing to pay for shipping to the next tour member, I really don't see the fuss in acquiring a micro sd card for the unit. Come on people, pull it together.

Awww...$7.80? frown.gif

There, there, princess. Let's not forget that you even got the privilege to be on this tour at the cost of nothing, besides shipping to the next person. smily_headphones1.gif

Well...starving for a week doesn't sound too bad, now does it? tongue.gif

Another reason I can think of is that this tour is also a "stress-test" of sorts for different classes and brands of MicroSD cards given the variety of members here; we can see which cards the X5 will be happy with and vice versa, which I think should have been checked for before the X3 is released.

Or maybe INSERT IT up my... ok I'm going to stop now ;3

But hey man, new Cyerbnetic implants... you never know where they might go! Alchol seems more effective when taken in the lower regions maybe data is too lol

But why do you take them out of the players?!?! You are not supposed to lose them that easy! LOL!

I've been using the AK100 MK2 for a week+ now and I actually like it a lot. I'm not a huge fan of touchscreens but this one works Ok. Still prefer buttons though so can't wait for the X5. Finally finished converting my CDs to FLAC as well! Just need to fill out my SD cards w00t! Oh, and my X3 recognized (finally) one complete SD card and created the library so I definitely think that there's an "undisclosed" number of files permitted in the library or per SD card (my old card had like 12,000 files, this one with FLAC has way less than that...)

Joe, will you include the number of files permitted by the firmware to properly create the database library in your final documentation?

Cowon does this with their players as far as I remember (need to find the documentation for my C2).

Also, was price ever discussed/finalized for the X5?

Thanks.
