and bcarr, I would have been fine with no photos but I guess I am a little late with my comment redface.gif

And thanks for completing your impressions HK_sends! smily_headphones1.gif

Nope, because that would leave the screen on full-time. :D What I want (or was looking for) is a setting to completely disable the key lock feature. Because after the screen times out  (which ever time you set it too) the key-pad automatically locks and you cannot stop this, which means I need to keep unlocking the keypad by pressing the power button everytime I basically pick up the X5 when all it's doing is sitting on my bed or table. I think the auto lock feature is a good idea for when putting in a pocket as it saves you some steps but not being able to turn it off is annoying.

It's like you have no control whether the player locks itself.

Edit: All it needs is one extra setting in the Key-lock settings.

Lockscreen 2

just tested a 128g Micro SD XC card in X5 and there are not any problem to format/read/play so people can buy the 128g Micro SD card now.

Awesome! Can you share the brand of the card you tested?

Thanks

Nice impressions mate, you put in some good effort!  I gather you're completely sold on X5? ;)

I've been having quite the time with Etymotics ER4S this evening.

H20, would be interested in your comparisons with the T1/X5 vs  T1/3rdAnniv.   Appears that the signature of the X5 is more similar to the warmer 3rd Anniv.??

I don't have T1 with me atm and remember it's not performing 100% until I replace the battery (which is on order)

I have amped my ER4S from X5 line out using JDS C421.

There was bit of this going on. *add lots of smiling and slight adrenaline rush*

So I gather a T1 performing 100% is going to do similar things. ;)

The Studio still sounds a fraction brighter but they're on similar tonality levels, it's just the Studio has that upper mid range emphasis which grinds out detail  and gives a sensation of air, where as the X5 is more of a balanced affair to my ears. it sounds  fuller and thick in the mid range. I will say some more in coming days as it really takes time to start cementing things between them, though X5 is performing well.

H20Fidelity, how about instrument separation? Does X5 match Studio V level?

No, not in it's entirety,  Studio still has that uncanny metronome like separation, though if the IEM you're pairing with X5 is strong technically you're not missing out by much.
I have a few tracks I test for this and X5 is not sloppy or smeary to my ears in this area.

Guys, just to confirm, is there ReplayGain in X5? If not, I will start to reconvert my FLAC/MP3 files with foobar2000

Is that you or Lee?   Ears are pretty BIG, could be Lee???    Anyway, thought you had the 3rd Anniv???   Also, your description of the X5 sig seems similar to the T1.   I would say the T! has a full, rich, black sig.   Anyway are you doing the kangaroo hop today??

Let's just say that I feel its got the greatest potential so far.  Besides being versatile, it just sounds great with the audio equipment I have.  Once the niggling issues are fixed then yeah, I'm pretty much sold...until the next big thing comes along (X7, anyone?)...
