Garden of words for best movie.

To be fair though, I haven't seen many anime movies this year.

That beat out Mardock Scramble, Ghost in the Shell Arise, Madoka, and Steins Gate!!!???!! ....well all my expectations for those movies went to hell.

I teared up and got mad feels from Garden of Words but still

F***, I totally forgot about Madoka. That takes the cake no doubt. I haven't seen GITS arise yet though.

1: Madoka

2: Garden of words

3: Steins;Gate (would go lower if I've seen more good movies)

I was actually thinking 2013 is overall somewhat weak, until mid November...

Tier 1:

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru (I just LOVE this)

Log Horizon (Same author as MaoYuu whom I really like since watching MaoYuu, everything just so thoughtful)

Aikatsu! (Watashi no A-tssuii Aikatsu, Hajimarimasu~)

Tier 2:

White Album 2 (I think I have been waiting years for a love drama like this...)

Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio - Ars Nova (A damn black horse to me, completely wasn't expecting something of this goodness from information prior on air. This is 3D graphics done right. ED, character development, story, pacing, etc, all going damn well on this.)

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S (Kamijou Touma, The Pro Boxer...)

Tamayura - More Aggressive (as I expected from the ARIA team)

Tier 3:

Gundam Build Fighters (was nearly deceived by the Kids' Show appearance... No, don't compare this to AGE)

MaoYuu (Interesting idea and well executed)

Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui (I laughed so loud but felt so bitter.. and there is the epic ep11 and the OP)

Non non Biyori (I love kids.)

Chihayafuru Season 2 (I want more Shinobu.. Cmon Seasion 3)

Gatchaman Crowds (Utsu utsu shimasu)

Kakumeiki Valvrave (Well, I guess at least it isn't messed up... or just yet?)

Tier Wasted:

Gallilei Donna (Actually I quite like its character setttings and the idea, but the potential is just wasted by A1)

Kyoukai no Kanata (I appreciate Kyoani's high quality animation on this, but the story itself was just so mediocore... btw, I love the ED)

Shingeki no Kyojin (Damn epic OST and also action scenes, somehow wasted on the single-toned storyline or perhaps the presentation)

Potential Pending: (I feel the potential, but not sure where to place it yet..)

Little Busters!

Golden Time

Kyousougiga

Kill la Kill

Golden time is on your potential list? Go read my post on the main thread and see what you have missed!

Found the post, and figured out I should watch ep12 first before expanding the spoiler...

By the way, I m quite surprised at how well Hentai Neko is being received here... I nearly dropped it.

It was too cute. High graphical production values and tsukiko was always too good for words.......

There is only one part of ep 12 mentioned in the spoiler but sure.
Go watch it smily_headphones1.gif

God tier:
- Uchuu Kyoudai (because it goes on the top of any anime-related list)
- Aku no Hana

Top tier:
- Gin no Saji
- Chihayafuru S2
- Non Non Biyori

**** tier:
- Anything you have ever watched.

Ah.. forgot to put Chihayafuru in my list

Reminded me that I have to catch up on Uchuu Kyoudai Orz...

I think I'll place my comments here as the main thread is going strong and posts get buried in no time like shooting stars...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Oh I can see your love for Kouko... Its fabulous feeling to find something that resemble important part of yourself in a well presented anime, that's why I love Yahari so much.

I think Kouko is an addictive character for those who tends to think in the characters. She is so well developed that so "true" the feelings and thoughts popped up when I try to imagine her mind. She tries so hard to present herself ideally to Banri and it somehow hurts when I see those shiny scene moments of her.

Another character I am very interested is Chinami, hope to see more development on her > <

And yeah.. nothing seriously happened yet, exactly the main reason why I don't know how to rate it.

I see you mentioned Kiminozo Orz... Do you mean their are similar in the way that the heroines don't share the same time period?

Who is kiminozo?

That scene where Chinama got hit by Koukou and wanted herself to be filmed was a great example. The visual, audio, and story clues all led you to think that there was of course going to be conflict. But as a romcom, you also knew it wasn't going to be anything big. The anime knew this and delivered what you thought, but in between all that. They characterized and developed Chinama through their tactic of 'how you first knew chinami' to how you see her right now in a precious moment of hers.

Other romcom's tell you when a character has feelings for another....Golden Time shows it through their parody of the romcom genre while still innovating on it.

Kimi no Nozomu Eien...

Not sure if I'd call it as parody, but yeah, Golden Time is somewhat special in presenting characters. Instead of instant voice-over telling you what the character is, it tells you slowly and in very natural ways. Watching ep1 I couldn't even guess if the characters will play important role,  as appearance of characters were mostly quite bland just like real life.
