Stop it! I'm not looking for a GR07 BE replacement. O god, but I've already been tainted by the Zero Audio Tenore!

Myself, Woodcans and Muzak prefer the DITA to the Tenore. I'm sure Soundfreaq will feel the same once his Tenore comes in. But I'm also sure the Tenore may make him question a lot of his purchases wink.gif

All's left is SGS, but he didn't order his DITA thru the official site so no clue when his pair is coming in. I'm most curious on what his take will be, as he's proclaimed his undying love for the Tenore and all wink.gif

After about two weeks with the DITA, I've pinpointed the reason for my love of this phone: it's essentially a dynamic driver take on the K3003 signature. Very similar overall presentation and sound. Hats off to DITA for what is, in my opinion, a top level performer at a fair price. My hope is that subsequent offerings will follow the Answer/VDH pricing structure that's already in place and that they won't follow the crowd and bump up their prices

Excellent post!

Any plans to audition @gnarlsagan? He compared them favorably to the K3003's you and others have recommended me based on my impressions. The ergonomics look to be more bed friendly then K3003's as well 😃

OP, any plans to consolidate impressions in the first post like eke?

The bird lives strong!

I could consolidate impressions in the OP. Give me a bit of time to do that of course.

Also the OP could do with some updating also.

Thanks.

The Tenore, while an excellent phone, especially for its price, just can't scale up to the heights the Answer can reach. I consider the Answer to be a true TOTL iem. The Tenore is great in its own right. I, in simple terms, consider the Answer to be the 'Tenore 'n More'.

Ok, I'm about to send an order to the guys at Dita for some of their phones.

I'm solid on the Answers right now as the Truths will set me back an extra AU$300, just for the VDH.

In your view though, is it really worth it in this application?

I am a believer in good cables and have used VDH and a range of other high end cables at home previously (I'm currently using solid silver Litz and Kimber 8TC on the home system).

But will I really get the value here by going Truths?

AU$300 is alot of dosh to me right now and for this extra amount I can also pick up a set of full size Sennheiser Momentums for use at home to compliment the Answers I'll use when travelling.

I'll be using them straight from my iPhone 5 and playing lossless files. Music genres are very mixed - you name it, I listen to it (pretty much).

Previous phones were Senn CX-300 (free with lap top), Vsonic RP02ProII (AU$99) and currently some modded Xiaomi Pistons (AU$32)

Cheers guys.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take for the guys in the U.S. who ordered directly from the DITA site to get their IEMs? Just wanna see how many days I might go without having a pair of IEMs after I sell my current ones.

To be perfectly frank, the vanilla Answer edition performs at or better than any phone you see in my signature. It's that good. If I were you, and if the sig seems to fit your tastes, I'd order the Answer, and pocket the $300 AUD for a rainy day. Coming from the phones you've listed, you're gonna be in for a real treat. Also, the Answer performs perfectly fine out of an iPhone 5 with mp3s. Perhaps perfectly fine isn't adequate, it's stunning, in a word.

One business day if you can believe it. If you order before 12 noon on one day, you should have it the very next day. Although I'm sure they're a little busier these days, so to be on the safe side, two to three business days

They are definitely audibly different. The VDH version is better at a couple of things

Slightly better detail retrieval, extension on both ends
Slightly more air
Slightly wider soundstage

As for the answer, its more mellow, slightly warmer and thicker in the midrange.

So its all about whether you prefer these differences. I personally preferred the answer's signature. Plus it was much more affordable to me. Either way though you can't go wrong. They sound amazing smily_headphones1.gif

I ordered mine from their site late on a Tuesday afternoon and my pair arrived Thursday morning.

I am considering 'upgrading' to the Truth edition for two reasons. One, I want to hear for myself if there are any significant differences. Two, the cable on the Answer is very rubbery. Since it is designed to be worn over the ear, I much prefer a cable with memory. The Answer's cable is very rubber band like, with zero or almost zero memory.

Wow, that's some insanely fast shipping! Only a few days without good IEMs shouldn't be too bad, thanks for letting me know.

I haven't had the chance to hear the Answer A/B'd with the Truth yet, but going from what I heard with Idsynchrono's Answer a bit over a week ago your observation totally confirms what I recalled the Answer sounding like compared with what I'm hearing now with the Truth. When listening yesterday, I was trying to recall the sound signature of the Answer and thought it would be more mellow and a touch thicker sounding, with less energy in the highs and a bit less spaciousness. It'll be interesting what we both think when we can meet up again to listen to the Answer and Truth at the same time...

If I tried the the DITA and loved it, I would pay the extra amount of its pricier brother for things like aesthetic or very(very) small sonic improvements. I personally like that cable but is the opening covered with a clear high quality glass/plastic window or is it just open? It looks to be the latter and I would prefer the former.

Hell, I paid $100 to cover my ASG 2's in black and love the look of it. The craftsmanship could use some work tho. Sadly the sonics where not loved but they have their pluses, mostly their lush yet detailed and airy vocals. The degree to which I agree with eke is more like %100-60 tho. In other words, he might say X is amazing while I'll feel like describing them as good. I find EX1000 vocals better then the ASG 2, cleaner and more airy, personal preference.

It's been a few weeks with the Answer and I'm still loving what I'm hearing. The truth definitely sounds different but as WCDChee said, the Answer caters to my needs more. I like the more ergonomic and flexible cable, am digging the silver metal finish, and the sound fits my preferences better.

Have you tried using the neck cinch J? The cable is held perfectly in place with it pulled up. Not sure you're even aware of it since a couple of people in this very thread had no idea it was even there

Knowing your sig preferences, and the phones that you liked (Tenore, Ex-1000) I think it's safe to say you'd dig the DITA
