Hi Expatin

Did you try the gold edition ?
Has any SQ different between gold edition and normal Stainless Steel Edition ?

Here is more info about the gold edition :

Dita Audio's Fujiya Avic 2014 Spring Headphone Festival surprise
May 08, 2014 in earphones
In roughly 44 hours, Fujiya Avic's Spring Headphone show will kick off. In the midst of it, Dita Audio will inherit a bit more awesomeness. That awesomeness will show itself in two super secret items:

1. The Answer (Truth Edition) in gold for Fujiya Avic
- it is limited to 18 sets
- It rings in at 99.999¥ apiece

2. a 3,5mm to 3,5mm interconnect that connects your favourite to your favourite amp. Rest assured that this cable employs all the Van Den Hul goodness you've come to love in your Truth Edition earphones.
- you will be able to test it at Dita Audio's booth
- in light of the headphone festival, Dita Audio will be giving away a very limited number of its interconnects!
- giveaway interconnects will come in waterproof carrying cases

NOTE: Gold Truth Editions are special editions sold only at Fujiya Avic. Gold editions will be available for display at Dita Audio's Fujiya booth (if you are lucky enough to be in Tokyo at the time).

Reference: I reviewed both Dita Audio earphones at Headfonia earlier this year. I am a firm fan of their sound and am totally stoked to see/hear what they have on display this time around.

EDIT: certain number was changed to very limited in regard to Dita's interconnects

With this talk of interconnects, I'd be interested to know what DAC/amp combos people are feeding their Ditas with.

I'm wondering if the iphone 5 is up to the task by itself and what someone would have to consider to get an improvement.

I will be getting my vorzuge pure 2 in a few days time.

ZX1 > Pure 2 > Dita The Truth

Hopefully it will sound great.

Don't worry about using your iphone 5 as a source. It sounds fabulous out of the iphone. In fact, one of the owners of dita himself listens straight out of the iphone.

These days stock iDevice headphone out is quite good. When using as transport only the improvements are in imaging, soundstage and general enhancements. But as a starting point pretty good

Fujiya lists buy prices and sell prices in their used columns. If the price is half, it is the used seller buy price. They will then sell them at about 90%

Just bought the new Rodrigo y Gabriela 9 Dead Alive. Great recording. Listening to pure bliss on the Dita Truth + X5

(I bought mine for 10Euros on https://rodrigoygabriela.bandcamp.com/album/9-dead-alive)

I have been enamored with this combo for the past five days. Using iPhone 5s as transport. Apologies for the crappy iPhone photos.

Thanks and yes, I've been emailing Desmond recently (to nut out a solution for Dita plug vs Cleave bumper issue) and he rates stock iPhone performance too.

I'd still love to try a Chord combo though. Their home stuff is rated very highly but they're damn expensive and with other priorities (saving for a new house), might have to give it a miss for now.

At this stage, it look like I'll be using iPhone -> Dita Answers for a while. I'm finding it hard to justify the additional AU$300 for the minor improvements the VDH cable is claimed to provide.

Good news though; looks like Apple 'might' start offering iOS compatible hi-res audio out of iTunes soon...

I think CanOpener on iOS supports FLAC if you're into that.

Woodcans: Glad to see you're enjoying the phones J. Rather jealous of that Chord you and Soundfreaq have got wink.gif

Stop it! I'm not looking for a GR07 BE replacement. O god, but I've already been tainted by the Zero Audio Tenore!

The KC06A should(must) replace my ASG 2 if the bass is perfectly implemented between neutral and WUB WUB. 36 quid, I don't even...

I would worry about the cable at the point it enters the earphone body because the molded entry is not flexible, but the VDH cable seems very durable thankfully so hopefully won't be an issue.

I settled on the large size tip with the medium bore. Having done some listening, the initial sound is almost overwhelming with its waves of detail. Not in a bad way! It's just astonishing how it conveys layers upon layers of detail with a huge sense of space. Listening to Beck's new album Morning Phase, his voice reverberates in the recording space and you can feel the volume of the area he's in! Bass is nice and deep yet controlled, with awesome definition, pitch, and detail.

SE846 compared to the Dita Truth:
> congested, blurred details (confused sounding)
> claustrophobic sense of space... way more narrow and closed in sounding
> sometimes male vocal tones sound just off in tone, sort of honky/nasally (which is weird as I had never noticed that until comparing to the gorgeous natural tone of the D.T.)
> treble less extended even with the white treble filter
> bass reaching about as low, but sounds one-note by comparison (much less character or distinction in types of drum sounds)

So, this far, I am highly impressed. Negatives to me are difficulty in maintaining fit- even with the best fitting tip working its sonic magic, the right side keeps slipping back out of my ear and I have to readjust often. The cable is quite, stiff and springy and a little microphonic. The sound can be a touch biting in the low treble and high mids. I'm hoping this tames down with some burn in time.

I look forward to this earphone evolving with some run in time. Good beginning so far!

Fantastic read! Thanks.

^I've really been spoiled with the GR07's adjustable nozzle. The angle is a cause for worry when it's fixed.
