SBX Pro Studio vs CMSS-3D ?

Thread Starter

I am on the edge of ordering a Sound Blaster Z, but I only just realized it doesn't have CMSS-3D. I read a mix of things, and I didn't get any clear results on this...

Is SBX Pro Studio as good as CMSS-3D in positional audio? I had a Titanium X-Fi some time ago and it was incredible how precise footsteps, gunshots, yells, engine sounds, well everything, were.

I have the DT 990 Pro 250 ohms, (upgraded from Siberia V2) currently on a "VIA VT2021" Z77x-UD3H mobo, and it doesn't do the headphones justice, not very loud, and I'm using Razer Surround for the 3D sound, not nearly as good as what I remember CMSS-3D to be.

So.. TL;DR - I want your help figuring out what the best thing to do would be

Keep in mind  I also have no microphone

A)  get Sound Blaster Z and the beam-forming mic that comes with it, but then have SBX Pro Studio instead of CMSS-3D

B)  figure out if there is a sound card with CMSS-3D that will do the DT 990 Pro 250's justice and ALSO a mic that has noise cancellation like the Sound Blaster's mic, for close to the same price  :confused_face(1):

Thanks for the help!

As the Sound Blaster Z (SB1500) sound card is $80, you can't do better for the price.

You might try read up and asking on this thread.
