Upgrading from the Asus Xonar DG

I am currently using Sennheiser HD 598's with a Xonar DG i have a $200 budget to upgrade my DG to either a better soundcard or preferably a external DAC/AMP, however i am quite new to audio and don't want to go wasting money. What would go well with a pair of HD598s for under $200 uses would be gaming and listening to music mostly. Any recommendations or more information needed?

I was looking at the Essence STX and the Fiio E10 however i did some research before posting and there were alot of recommendations for the Objective2

The cheapest upgrade would be the Sound Blaster Z sound card, $80, better DAC chip and more powerful headphone amplifier, then the Xonar DG.

For around $170, the Xonar DX or D1 sound card (used $60) and a Schiit Magni headphone amplifier, $99.

The Magni/Modi combo would sound great, but USB DACs bypass the sound card and you use the PC for gaming, if all you do is play games in stereo 2-channel audio, then USB is fine.

Again i am quite new to this what would be the advantages of getting a soundcard + external amp rather than a external amp+DAC?

Also would it be better to go with Magni + DX or Objective2 + DX, my budget should be able to fit either one.

The Xonar DX/D1 is cheaper the the Modi

The DX/D1 comes with Dolby Headphone 7.1 surround sound processing, the Modi does not.

Between Magni or O2 (Objective 2) does not really matter, the O2 does come with a battery, so can be used for around 10 hours away from an AC socket, but otherwise there seems to be no practical difference.
