Looking for a closed pair of headphones for gaming

Thread Starter

Good evening.

As the title says, i am looking to buy a pair of headphones to be used while gaming, that are closed and keep the outer sound... out.

I've using the Syberia V1 to play, but they are open. I won't play online fps games, so i dont need a lot of sound detail, i don't need to hear other players walking behind the doors and all that stuff.

For example, at the time of this writing, i'm listening to an episode of simpsons, my mother talking at the phone, and when i play and want to hear Vaas screaming (a psycho in Far Cry 3), i just can't understand a word. It's unbearable.

Unfortunately, it's gonna stay like this for some time, i can't rent a bigger house at the moment.

So i'm asking you guys, do you know a set of headphones that could help me?

1. I really love the ATH-M50, i could use them to play AND to listen to music. I've already tried a pair but that was 2 years ago, i think. from what i can remeber, they are closed, right? i think i couldn't understand a thing of what the salesman was saying with them on.

2. I bought a pair of beats studio (found them at 125 euros, give or take, so i decided to give them a try, don't hate me for that ahah) but i can't stand the fact that they need batteries to be used. And they have an overpowering bass (though i didn't burnt them in).

3. As i will be playing a lot, comfort is a must.

Thank you in advance.

So, you don't really need great positional audio for competitive fps, and you need to isolate noise. Bass is a plus too, tho not too much.

Yeah, the M50s wouldn't be a bad choice. You could also look at some closed-back AKG's.
