Is there a higher end USB to SPDIF converter that will pass AC3 and DTS?

Just wondering as I have an older Acurus ACT3 ( handles DD, DTS, AC3, MPEG2) and I want to play AC3 and DTS files in 5.1 from my computer from VLC and Media Player Classic. Yes, I know about all the settings to utilize SPDIF in both player's menus. I would like a USB to digital coax converter that does not downmix and only pass 2 channel stereo. Currently, I am using an M2Tech Hiface but it is only capable of 2 channel stereo pass through. I am looking at the HA INFO U2 converter but surely there is something better than that out there? My computer is the heart of my entire system for both music and movies. Thanks guys, I'm sure you'll have the answer.

Also, my laptop of course has HDMI output. The Acurus only has SPDIF coax and toslink inputs. My other question. Would an HDMI audio extractor (has a pass through HDMI for the monitor and an SPDIF capable of AC3 pass) be better than a USB to SPDIF that will pass AC3? Confusing stuff, I know.

Last question, I promise. Would something like the Musical Fidelity V-link, April Music Stello U3 or Peachtree T1 pass AC3? That's really where I'd like to be or better as far as quality makers.
