Need quick help on cheap headphone

Hey guys,

Trying to get my dad so cheap headphones for Christmas. I tried bose qc's once and he wasn't fond of me spending so much on headphones for him (super frugal and generous he is!) and he made me take them back! Haha. So I know if I get him something sub $40 range he actually keep it!

He really only wears headphones when he's at his computer picking songs for praise team at church, making lyric slide shows for the songs etc.

I really just need a nice clean sounding headphone comparable to bose qc's. Here's what I've found:

-Monoprice 8323
-Panasonic RP HTF600
-Audio Techinca ath-m30

To my knowledge the monoprices are the best but if someone could tell me otherwise that'd be awesome!! Thanks!

Monoprice has comfort issues, but I suppose one can always attach a headband. You should be able to learn about Monoprice modding in the main forum, such as http://www.head-fi.org/t/617416/extra-comfort-on-monoprice-8323.

ATH-M30 should be good for music that has some bass. It's good looking for a cheap headphone and probably well built and reasonably comfortable. I'm basing these suppositions on my experience with other ATH-Mxx products and on reviews that have compared it with M50.

One you might have overlooked is Sennheiser HD202 II. I enjoyed this review:

http://www.headfonia.com/sennheiser-hd-202-review/. It's fun when a cheap model satisfies.

Have a look also at Tascam TH02. It's $20-25 and the FR chart looks pretty good. It comes in three colors, and I'm guessing it can be modded too. (I'm thinking of buying one and putting something over the housing to make it less cheap looking.)

ultrabike is right: they're very good choices. My romantic partner (female) "stole" my first KSC75 and uses them daily. They're so good and comfortable and cheap that I bought another. Be aware that they're clip ons; there's a $2 + shipping headband mod with a how to video on youtube.
