I am in the situation of buying an IEM and have narrowed it down to 3. These include the westone 3, tdk BA-200, and the Vsonic GR07. I completely torn on all 3. So I am asking for someone who has listened to one or more of these and can give me a comparison between them. So far I'm leaning towards the BA-200 because it still has the pleasant and musical sound, yet it doesn't have too much bass like the Westone 3's. Sometimes i would like the bass, but not for all music i listen to. I have a fiio e11 that can boost the bass if necessary. Thanks for any tips or other advice:)

If you have an odd angle to your ear canal the GR07 might be better.  It has adjustable nozzles.  Were some good deals on the BA200 and W3 over Black Friday, so some may pop up on the FS forum.  Other than that I can't say too much.

Well considering the price... Vsonics wins by a mile. I have the Gr07 MK2, it sounds absolutely splendid. The only problem i have with it is the lack of sub-bass and mid-bass like those in house or dubstep music. Otherwise I would consider it close to perfect. But then again there's the Gr07 Bass Edition which I've not heard of. Regardless... Gr07 +1

I have both W3 and BA200 and definitely prefer the wider soundstage of the W3.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going with the westone 3's because they dropped to $160 which is a complete steal!

Have you done a side by side comparison with the two? I ask because my W3s just arrived and they're giving my beloved BA200s a run for their money. Trying to remember that I'm indubitably suffering from new toy syndrome right now.

I have the GR07's and the Westone 3's. To be honest they are both worth having and getting. I'll put it to you as I look at it myself.

The better of the two? The GR07. I say this from the view point of, if you only had one, and especially if this is your 1st proper iem. Hands down, GR07.

However, the Westone 3 is discontinued, and can be had on Amazon for $159 or less.... So yeah I'd buy those while you can at like $180 or so less than list price (thats what I did).

That being said, In terms of SQ to my ears, I am not yet willing to say which is better overall. Seems contradictoryI know, but the GR07 is so good EVERYONE should own one, simply to understand what good is, and why. It taught me so much about sound quality in general (what is warm/sweet/cold/musical/bright/dark/etc), I hated it for like 2 months (then after a ludicrous 200-250 hours worth of burn in while listening) and have loved them for the past 1 1/2 years. I didn't even want anything else and instead went through 6 DAP's in between fully satisfied for almost 2 years.

I wouldn't sell my MK1 GR07's for any price or let you borrow them lol, and they are most most cherished set. Sentimental I know but truly, they are stellar, and you will have a hard time finding something better when you do decide to search for something better without at what they do. Many of us have had this problem.

The W3's are in no way a downgrade, They are very good indeed and your money wont be wasted, the price is just icing on the cake. The take away here, as I see it, is the 07's are the better first set. They source ludicrously well, can improve with a amp. Show sources extremely well (what the Walkman/iPod/Clip/iBasso etc itself sounds like) and they are good with everything. It's value is that it just has no real weakness.

I see the 07's as more reference, sounding "as it really is" but certainly not boring. I see the Westone 3's as the same with the caveat of being, "as the ear perceives it", more so than "as it really is".

Best of luck

*edit* After reading your post again, for sure, the GR07's, I don't doubt the TDK's are good, I have not heard them. But I can't imagine a better choice for what you want. The Westone's fwiw aren't all that bassy in terms of boom, but they do have massive impact and extend surprisingly low for a BA, comparable to the 07's minus the body and natural decay (extension wise).

If price is an issue, please note that you can find the BA-200 at some Ross stores for very low prices; I found mine for $25 on December 23, 2013, in the Columbia, SC, area.  See http://www.head-fi.org/t/692072/ross-stores-usa-deals-thread-who-got-what-and-where.
