id say just get the xs for now, you really don't need an amp

its so efficent already. its not really gonna make much of a difference unless your splurging a lot for the amp. most budget amps won't make a difference on the xs

a lot of expensive amps are just as good as budget ones. (objective 2 anyone?)

Why an amp with the XS?

Oh I was just thinking a amp would bring the sound out a bit but if it doesn't need an amp then I won't get one but I am playing it off a Samsung Galaxy S3 :/ reckon it's enough to power the XS?

well i mean like for example i own the fiio e6.

tried the e11 e70k

all my gear are efficient (xs, noontec zoro, hifiman re400, vsonic gr07, monster turbines)

low impedence and pretty high sensitivity

So I should just get the XS for now and worry about the amp later?
Unless you want to be prepared for if you decide to buy a high impedance low sensitivity can, then don't get an amp. All technical evidence says you don't need an amp for xs's. The electricity from a phone should be enough to power it quote well. It doesn't need that much electrical current to be at its best... Now, if you buy a hifiman etc, then its nice to have a good amp on hand. The reason I think these guys say their expensive amps cause a difference in sound is because their mind is telling them it is. Now... A dac? Yes it will help... An amp? Nope.

Only amp that will help the XS is the VAMP VERZA or GO-DAP X as it has a portable DAC. It's useless using an amp for portable use with the XS.

or e17... It has a totl wolfson dac. Don't know why people keep saying that its worse sounding than the verza. The vamp verza dac chip is actually noisier and has more distortion when I did my research on it. The wolfson dacs were far superior on paper.

I noticed you lived in Australia. Where do you get your v moda products in Austalia?

Unfortuntely I did not get a chance to try the XS today only the Momentums but I think I am going to end up loving the XS ALOT!!! haha

Ummmm sorry, an amp, depending which amp being used, can help a headphone, even a sensitive headphone. You don't believe me you only have to visit the pics of my mobile rig thread to see various people amping their players with mobile amps. Ampimg isn't just about power it's more about implementation.

So what are the main differences between the Sennheiser Momentum Over Ear and the V moda XS in sound quality and sound signature? Because I am really liking the Momentums but I want the XS and would like to know if the XS sound just as good or if not better. I would like to know how the bass is also compared to the Momentums over ear.
