That's correct that sound can change through other means - different cup housing material, the fill material and quantity, (and as demonstrated with the XL pads) the earpads too, not just the driver.

I'm guessing that you're probably not going to open your V-Modas. Are the XS pads the same as the M-80?

It means you don't have to tuck the cable in. I don't need a remote since I have a Pebble watch.

The sound is also better from the CoilPro.
do you mean the coil pro> the normal audio cable? or the speak easy

i heard the remote does degrade the sq adding more impedence to the device amongst other things

i heard the xs comes with free audio cable too now so i was wondering how the coil pro would stack up against any stock audio cable

any chance you could post a pic of ur xs with the extender plus coil pro? just curious how it looks for on the go use
Yes, coilpro is better.
Will do, XS arrived in AU today, probs tomorrow.

They seem the same to me.

can somebody compare them with the sennheiser momentum on-ear?

I had the momentums but really disliked their sound. Too bassy, too bloated

and not very detailed either. Also I thought comfort could be better.

I'd love to see a comparison with the Beyerdynamic T51P as well.

Not sure if this helps as i only demoed the momentum on ears for 5 mins, but it was a demo unit from a specialty headphone shop ( so their not abused like in the apple store)

The mids are much much more recessed .in terms of bass the momentum on ears would probably have slightly more bass in subbass especially, but its a slow type of bass . The bass on the xs so far doesnt really overwhelm, cause the mids are really strong in its own right and foward. Theres more mid bass on the xs, but it feels faster > mometum but this only by memory

The xs definitely has a sound thats on the thicker end. Treble i would have give the edge in extension to the momentums. However the xs are great too good extension as well.

Comfort i actually find the xs slightly edges out, but for the mostvpart their about the same tbh the alcantracon the momentums are really cool and comfortable , they never got hot and their light as well.

The xs are definitely heavier in the hand but u dont notice it on ur head. Their earpads sorta stick to your ears a bit more.

But just in terms i like the xs a lot more, the mids are far too scooped on the momentums compare to the bass and treble
But again this is only by memory so take that with a grain of salt smily_headphones1.gif

I've demo'd the B&W P7 compared to the M100, the senn momentum over ear as well.
Once you're used to the m100 sound sig, there's no going to consumer-marketed headphones.
I get my XS tomorrow hopefully. Will run some sound tests with all headphones I can get hands on - beats, sols, senns, A&k etcetera lol.

Would that be the Bowers & Wilkins P7? I don't think Astell & Kern makes a P7.

I would agree. I love the M-100 sound and it's hard to break free from it. The only other headphone I like as much as the M-100 is the Fidelio X1. Thank god I've found my end game for the up to $300! Not going above $300. Nope. No way. :P

Yes, like SpiderNhan said, the pads on the XS and M-80 seem to be the same.  I don't plan on disassembling either of them as I don't know how I'd get them back together.

For me, the really important things is that the XS effectively fits lower on my ear when extended.  SpiderNhan's animated gif really shows this well.  This is a big deal for people with big noggins.  The M-80/V-80 was always a bit small for my head.

Another thing that comes to mind:  the fittings on the earcups of the XS and M-80 seem to be the same too.  So, it might be possible to put the M-80 earcups/drivers on the XS headband.  This would require some cutting of cords, though, because the cord runs over the headband, or disassembly of the headbands to get at the wires.   I don't know why I would want to do that though, because to me the XS sound is improved over that of the M-80.

On V-Moda's site, it states that Amazon and Headphone bar are the only 2 verified resellers (https://v-moda.com/verified-resellers/)

I plan on getting these soon, thanks to everyone posting tiny bits of reviews all over this tread, you guys helped me make up my mind <3
