Audio-Technica Anth-M50 vs. V-MODA Crossfade LP

Hello. I have absolutely zero knowledge of headphones so I thought you guys could help me decide between the Audio-Technica Anth-M50 and V-MODA Crossfade LP. I really like the look of white headphones and think both look pretty nice. I like the look of the M50 a little more but the Crossfades look good too. I mainly listen to Indie and Alternative music so bass probably isn't a super important thing for me. I assume they both have pretty good sound quality as I've seen some awesome reviews for both, so I'm not sure that any differences in sound quality would be that noticeable for me, but if one would be superior for the type of music I listen to by all means tell me. Comfort and durability and really important for me. My ears cannot be squished at all. Light is good. I want them to fit comfortably. I would also like them to last for a long time. I would prefer a shorter cable. I really feel like a long cable would be cumbersome--also I would almost certainly trip over it or catch it on something.

Any advice is appreciated.

If bass isn't very important to you, there are better choices than these two.  You should start with the buying guide linked at the top of this thread.

should it be important to me? I've only heard people saying oh i like dubstep so I need bass. Does indie require bass?

I'm looking for something around $100 with good sound quality. These seemed to fit the bill but perhaps I was wrong. Either way i would still appreciate input on these products. I would take other recommendations if you have any.

All that is up to you.  In this price range (especially without an amp) you will almost certainly have to make trade offs.

The M50 will give you bass (without crossing into basshead territory), but it comes at the price of recessed mids and that bass is just a bit muddy.  It is a can that can be too bright for some.

The LP is not a top choice and many find it to be uncomfortable.

Once again I’ll mention that headphone comfort is a very individual thing.  Sizing and sensitivities are unique to each person.  We can point you to headphones that are generally considered to be comfortable and mention others that have garnered complaints for being uncomfortable.  However, the only way to know for sure is to wear them yourself for a time equivalent to your longest listening session.

I think that you are well advised to go to someplace (say a local store) where you can listen to some alternatives--hopefully ones from the buying guide that you find to be of interest.

Find the link to it at the top of this page:

I'd go for the UE6000 instead.
