Schiit Gungnir/Mjolnir Question

Hello everyone,

I have the Schiit Gungnir and Mjolnir. I won the Mjolnir from a raffle and I am kinda new to the world of audio.

I have a few questions:

What cables do I need to connect them to eacother, a XLR male to femal cable will work, and do I need two of them? Will these cables work:

http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=115&cp_id=11509&cs_id=1150902&p_id=4749&seq=1&format=2

My second question is, how do I connect the DAC to my computer, can I do it with this cable:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BCWA6TK/ref=oh_details_o07_s01_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks

Looks like you have the correct cables.

You might also get an optical cable for connecting from the computer to the Gungnir.

A USB connection will bypass the computer's sound card (on-board or add-on), while an optical connection will allow you to still use the sound card features.

Assuming your computer has an optical port, a few come with coaxial, which will function the same as optical.

You should be able to order all three cables, XLR, USB & optical (or coaxial) from Monoprice.

Interesting, I have an ASUS soundcard that has some cool features. So, if I use coaxial, I can use it and my DAC with no issues?

One last thing, do I need two of those XLR cables to connect my DAC and AMP, or will 1 suffice.

Thank you!

The optical and coaxial inputs on the Gungnir function equally.

So the sound card takes care of all the audio features (like headphone surround sound) the Gungnir does the Digital to Analog converstion and the Mjolnir does the headphone amplifcation.

You also have the option of replacing your Asus card with a low cost Sound Blaster Z (OEM), $56. or any other new sound card or future sound card.
